We are there in early January for a few days. I've been there several times already, my travel mate never. We want to walk as much as possible but be in a nice non-touristy neighborhood with restaurants/bars. We want a private room and NO noisy party hostels.

There isnt a non turistic area in buenos aires nowadays specially during summer that the portenos all leave town. Id say to stick with palermo parks for great sightseeing on your walks, but the least turistic area will be neighborhoods like cavallito, flores, san isidro...its beautiful but nothing much. About a place to stay, there is a "hostel" for a older public on chacabuco 718, cant recall the name but look for it. Its all private rooms, sheets changing, breakfast, etc. over 9 years ago

Agree San Telmo neighborhood is your best choice, you can walk everywhere from there. Recommend "Tempempie" on Chile Street, almost corner with Peri Street, Beatiful bakery on main floor, quiet, clean rooms and very warm atmosphere! almost 9 years ago
