I live in Buenos Aires, and the usual is to stay in the downtown, but is one of my least favorite parts of the city. Perhaps the most beautiful is "La Recoleta", but is small and still is too close to downtown. Palermo instead has a neighbourhood style, much less central, and very trendy, with a few boutique hotels to stay, and safer than downtown. Agree with Diego... The usual place to stay is downtown: there are many hotels, very turistic area, close to Puerto Madero as well. If you prefer a well known hotel, they are located in downtown. Recoleta is another option, few nice hotels, nice neighborhood, close to downtown (a taxi from Recoleta to downtown is around 5 usd). In "Palermo Soho" there are many boutique hotels, many shops and many gourmet restaurants, quiet neighborhood in comparisson with downtown and Recoleta (a taxi from Palermo Soho to Downtown is around 8 usd). There are also few boutique hotels in "San Telmo" which is the oldest neighboorhod, very typical and turistic (a taxi from here to downtown is around 6 usd). Enjoy Buenos Aires! over 8 years ago
