    Hi Abhijeet
Yael from WorldNomads.com here! Our WorldNomads travel insurance policies do cover trekking, however there are slight differences in the amount of coverage, depending on your country of residence. Some have altitude restrictions which you might need to keep in mind since you will be trekking to the Everest base camp.
AUS/NZL: Can cover trekking/hiking so long as support ropes are not being used and you are not taking part in a professional sporting activity. You must not be exposing yourself to a needless risk and you must be taking reasonable care. We do not have an altitude limit but please also be aware that we do not cover search and rescue.
UK: Hiking / trekking without ropes, picks or other specialist climbing equipment) up to 3000m is covered as standard (level 1) with a World Nomads policy. Hiking / trekking on recognised routes (without ropes, picks or other specialist climbing equipment) up to 6000m is covered provided you have paid the appropriate additional premium (level 2) and it is shown on your policy certificate. Mountaineering with ropes, picks or specialist climbing equipment is covered provided you have paid the appropriate additional premium (level 4) and it is shown on your policy certificate. Cover excludes free mountaineering, climbing in remote or inaccessible regions, exploratory expeditions and new routes, high altitude climbing over 6,000 metres. You are not covered for Mountaineering Expeditions, Expeditions to the Arctic or Antarctic.
USA: Hiking / climbing is covered by our policy, but only when you are climbing at 15,000 feet or less; and this has been arranged by a recognized company (that is a company that is licensed and employs experienced staff).

CANADA: There is provision for hiking / trekking without the use of support ropes. There is no altitude limit.
OTHER COUNTRIES: There may be a provision for cover while trekking and mountaineering. If there is an altitude limit it will be specified in the policy wording. We will not cover search and rescue. For coverage offered for residents of specific country (other than those listed above) please visit http://www.worldnomads.com/travel-insurance/adventure-travel-insurance.aspx
You should also have a read of the policy wording so that you can find out exactly what the policy covers and what it doesn’t: http://www.worldnomads.com/travel-insurance/prices-and-benefits.aspx

Does this cover include helicopter rescue, should we need it? All the forums I've looked at have said that you have to have helicopter rescue, but can't see if that would be included or not!

    Thanks! over 4 years ago
