i just had an issue with Air Asia in Kuala Lumpur 2 days ago. KLIA2
at the check-in the lady looked at my passport and told me i could not fly out of the country because i have a damaged passport.
just to let you know, i got an small tear on the first page on the top right. that happend in India because the immigration officer was not careful at all.
i could still travel in india and nepal without problems.
in the end we missed our flight, they told me its my fault because my passport is damaged and i cant get a refund on it. we spend 5 hours in the airport and had to book a hotel in kuala lumpur.
is this even possible that they can avoid a check-in because of a passport that has a small tear in it?
by the way, the ground staff from air asia were very rude, unfriendly and did not help us in any way. that was the last time we fly or book with them!
yea it's tough but passport damage is non-negotiable in most cases.
Not your fault, but inconvenient anyway.
