In getting a quote, I can't choose a trip longer than 6 months. Is this because my provincial health insurance only lasts for 6 months, or can I extend my World Nomads insurance past 6 months? Thanks!
Hi TravelEater - thanks for your question.
Our insurer for Canadians, Travel Guard Chartis only allows us to sell a policy for up to 6 months as you do need to have provincial health insurance full medical/dental cover to apply while you travel outside of your home province (up to $5,000,000).
Your coverage under this policy may be extended up to a maximum trip length of 365 days provided you have obtained an extension of your provincial health insurance plan. We also allow you to buy more cover online while travelling.
If you do not have valid provincial health cover for the full duration of your trip, your aggregate limit for all Emergency Medical and Dental Benefits (including Emergency Medical Transportation) will be CAD$20,000.
All of the plans we offer are different, so please review the full description of coverage (policy wording) to make sure you understand what's covered, what's not covered and any limits or conditions that will apply. You can review the policy wording for Canadians here: http://www.worldnomads.com/travel-insurance/prices-and-benefits-country.aspx?Country=CAN
If you have any other questions about the coverage available on the plan we offer for Canadian, please contact Travel Guard Canada's World Service Desk from 6am to 10pm, 7 days Canada Central Standard Time: 1 877 328 2528 toll-free from Canada and the Continental U.S or +1 416 646 3723 collect from anywhere else in the world.

Thanks again Katrina - my flights are now booked, so I'll be buying my WorldNomads insurance for just under 6 months! :-)
If I may, another question ... I'll be going to Panama next month and my Amex card will give me insurance for the first 14 days. Do i buy World Nomads insurance just for the remaining 16 days of the trip, or do I need to buy for the month's duration?
