We will stay in San Francisco, CA, between Feb21 and Mar05 and we would like to know Yosemite Village, by one night, at least. I've heard about the chains for the wheels. Is it safe to drive there?

Yes, it's very safe as long as you follow the highway alerts for any chain requirements. It's been a whacky no-snow season so far, so the Valley floor could be alright or there can be out of the blue snow storms as late as May. It's never the same year to year.

Look up the road conditions here:http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/roadinfo/mtnhwys.htm

Yosemite roads are the eastern/southern Sierras link, highway 120.

If is snowy, try to get four wheel drive from your car rental, or ask them if they have chains. almost 8 years ago
