Hi Phil, I'll be setting off on an overland trip with my girlfriend in Africa from Cape Town to Cairo. We'll be traveling through South Africa, Namibia, Swaziland, Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia Sudan and Egypt. Could you offer any general safety advice us as I travel North through these countries? I am also needing to navigate safe passage from Egypt back to the Europe continent with a vehicle. Any advice would be very much appreciated.Cheers,Craig.

I'm assuming you're exceptionally well prepared and not just "winging it".
So, outside of the normal (pretty high) risks, I see you really needing to be on your guard the further north you go... Ethiopia, Sudan in particular. Depending on your country of residence and where you bought your insurance policy, it may not be effective in those places (and more) because of the level of government travel warning. So check what your home country says about them, and also what your policy says about coverage.
For more tips on each country, go to http://www.worldnomads.com/travel-safety/ and plug in each one.
I might also see if I can get Ben and Steph, a couple of Nomads we know, and get them to comment, because they've done a lot of travelling in Africa. almost 3 years ago
