I want to visit Australia for a month this year and have free either July or December. Which month would u recommend and why?

I was on a cruise that started in Sydney in early December and ended in Auckland just before Christmas. The weather in Sydney was in the high 70's - one day in the 80's and great for sunbathing. Lunch at Doyle's or Icebergs (Bondi Beach) was fun and shopping abounds in Sydney. Take the tour of the Opera House, ride the ferries to Manley or other points in the bay, and walk until you have to sit down for a glass of great wine. In Melbourne the trams are a great way to get about the City. Got to the Stokehouse on St. Kildra Beach about 4 km outside of town - great food and wine, and a beautiful view of the City and suburbs. Take the Ferry from Melbourne to northern Tasmania. We went to Burnie and rented a car and drove out an hour to the northwest to Stanley - cute little town (with a beach) where we felt we knew all the neighbors in our first hour of walking the main street. Beautiful scenery, lots of flower nurseries, cows (of course) before driving back to Burnie to drink at Hellyer's Distillery and eat cheese at the Cheese Factory outside of town. If your looking for national parks - go to Cradle Mountain in the north or go south east to Freycinet. Definitely go in December - weather is terrific - not too hot, not too cold. Just layer as the days are warm and the evenings can get cool/windy. over 10 years ago
