Any recommendations for places to stay in Arequipa?

Hi Wallace, I just got back from Arequipa and stayed at the Los Andes Bed & Breakfast (hostel). It is two blocks off of the Plaza del Armas and was very reasonably priced. almost 7 years ago

Is there a cheaper way to get from Lima to cusco besides airplane?

Hey Jess, there is a bus that takes you from Lima to Cusco. It takes about 24 hours and you'll spend the night taking some hair-raising turns through the Andes. Splurge on the Cruz del Sur bus line and bring lots of snacks. almost 7 years ago

Any recommendation for an itinerary for 14 days in Peru?

Hi Sunshine81, I just spent 12 days in Peru. The distances are deceptively far between cities so I wouldn't try to pack too many places in, and rather enjoy a few places longer. Here is what I did: Lima - 2 days Lima to Ica/Huacachina (5 hours by bus) - 1.5 days Ica to Arequipa (overnight bus) - 3 days Arequipa to Cusco (overnight bus) - 3 days Cusco to Olltaytambo (2 hours by bus) - 2 days almost 7 years ago

where is a good place to eat/drink in Miraflores, Lima?

Hi Kim, I just went to Tanta too and highly recommend it for a splurge (Panchita was a recommendation too). If you go down closer to the Miraflores beaches, there are endless choices - from Chile's to small kitchens serving traditional ceviche and chupe de mariscos. For a quick lunch 'La Lucha' does great sandwiches and fresh juices. almost 7 years ago

Which is the best way to go to Peru machu picchu? Is ten days good enough to see? When is the best season ? Thanks

Hi Michelle, I just got back from Machu Picchu and I think late August-early September was a great time to go (it's the end of high season and the weather was perfect). If you are not a big trekker - I would recommend starting from the sleepy village town of Ollataytambo (you may want to stay here a day or two, beautiful) and taking the train to Aguas Calientes first thing in the morning. From there, you can take a 20 minute bus ride up the mountain to Machu Picchu. almost 7 years ago

Apart from the Inca trail what exciting things are there to do in Cusco?

Hi Lonnie, I think the best thing to do in Cusco is to wander - around every corner you will find markets, cafes and friendly locals. You could spend days just wandering the cobblestone streets. That being said, I would recommend the Maras/Moray day trip that includes a visit to the mountain-side salt flats of Salineras and past fields of alpaca farmers. almost 7 years ago

I'm planning to travel from Nazca to Cuzco by bus - a 21-hour trip. Any suggestions/comments?

Hey Tanya, I just did this route. If you have the time I would recommend spending a few days in Ica (go to the dunes of Huacachina) and Arequipa (the beautiful white city) on your way. This will break up your trip. Also, buy your bus tickets at the bus station, if you go through an tour desk they will charge an (unnecessary) extra fee. Cruz del Sur seems to be the nicest and most safe bus company to go with. almost 7 years ago

In regards to a film student, Would I still be considered because I am a photography major that has not done films?

Hi Amber, If you are inquiring about the Travel Film Scholarship, you can definitely still apply if you are not a film student. Cheers, Alicia WorldNomads.com almost 7 years ago
