What is the cheapest way to get a train ticket from London to Newcastle?

Check out Virgin trains website. By booking in advance online you can get the best fares with them vs. waiting until you get to the station. Don;t know about Newcastle, but I went to Manchester from London and it cost me about 12 pounds one way. almost 10 years ago

    good places to eat?

Raincity Grill and Wild Rice were good. Robson street is lively and has a lot of excellent places to choose from-just stroll the street from Burrard towards Stanley Park. almost 10 years ago

Who does a good kayak tour in this area

I did a 5-day kayak/camping trip in northern BC with Bruce Wilson and Norn Hahn who teamed up for our small group. They were both fantastic guides, friednly, knowledgeable and Bruce was especially experienced. Both live in BC and run all manner of kayak trips in/around BC and Tofino year round. You can find more on both here: Bruce: http://www.wildwhisper.com/contact.html A list of kayak resources, including Tantalus Adventures: http://www.kayakonline.com/british_columbia.html almost 10 years ago

My parents are in Sydney for a week from the states. Any good restaurant recommendations around Sydney?

I loved Edna's Table for native Australian ingredients, The Bathers Pavilion in Balmoral is lovely for brunch, Iceberg's on Bondi for a morning coffee an breakfast whilst watching the waves crashing over the pool and mornign swimmers. On the north side on Blue Point Road has a nice Spanish Restaurant and I loved the Surry Hills area for restautants (Marque, an excelelnt japanese place whose name escapes me). Check out Food & Wine's website for good suggestions: http://www.foodandwine.com/restaurants/list/sydney almost 10 years ago

What are the safety concerns in Argentina? Is there a high occurrence of theft in Buenos Aires?

I have been there a few times traveling as a solo female and I have never had any problems. I've stayed downtown and off Santa fe Ave near Recoleto. I've walked around at all hours in all neighborhoods (Once and downtown) . In hindsight, even though I never had any 'close' calls or felt threaened in doing so, I perhaps shouldn't have. I took buses and walked-have yet to take the subte. I made sure to not be conspicuous with a map or guidebook and dressed like a local city resident (no Teva sandals, shorts, or other clothing that screamed tourist). Also, I either didn't carry a bag-just kept my money and folding map in my jacket pocket, or had a small bag with no large openings or zippers that I kept on my lap at cafes/restaurants or on my feet. almost 10 years ago

what is a good secure budget hotel to stay at in L.A. that is close to most attractions?

I don;t know what you may mean by budget, but the Farmers Daughter in the Grove is very safe, good value and near most things inside the LA 'triangle' almost 10 years ago

I need to travel from LA to San Diego. Flights are expensive. What is the best way to go by land?

One way car rentals can be expensive. Check out Craigslist.com. In the LA section, look for rideshares to san Diego. They are tonnes offered and you often just chip in for gas! Can be a good way to meet people, while away the ride with banter and cheap! almost 10 years ago

Where do you get a good european coffee

If you mean local to you in Anaheim, I don't know. But if you mean elsewhere in California, I can highly recommend Local 123 in Berkeley's San Pablo Road! almost 10 years ago
