Looking for a good Car Hire company from LAX airport?

All the national brands are there, with Thrifty, Dollar and Budget likely the best value.I recently spied http://www.la-rentacar.com/. I have booked through Priceline.com by bidding as well as direct with the rental agency (sometimes you get deals directly on the sites). Supercheapcar.com claim to have good prices for longer term rentals. Do look to see if yo can get a cheaper rate by picking up & drop off at a location that isn't at the airport; sometimes the national brands offer deals for these locations. over 8 years ago

what is a good secure budget hotel to stay at in L.A. that is close to most attractions?

I don;t know what you may mean by budget, but the Farmers Daughter in the Grove is very safe, good value and near most things inside the LA 'triangle' about 10 years ago

What is the cheapest way to get a train ticket from London to Newcastle?

Check out Virgin trains website. By booking in advance online you can get the best fares with them vs. waiting until you get to the station. Don;t know about Newcastle, but I went to Manchester from London and it cost me about 12 pounds one way. about 10 years ago

What is good cold weather/snow clothing for New York?

I lived in New York for a couple of years, so I have experienced all the weather conditions it has to throw at you. I am assuming you mean New York City as opposed to colder climes of Upstate NY. Yes, agree that it's about layering (bring the hat, gloves, scarves) but it is also a city not a snow-ladened ski village, and rarely do the temperatures reach sustained sub-zero levels. So if you want to look like a local, do bring jeans, sweaters, shirts, skirts/tights whatever you would wear in a city. The hotels/restaurants/pubs/subways and clubs are all heated to the gills, such that I often found myself stripping down to a T-shirt or blouse. The biggest winter asset for a female is a longer coat that keeps your legs warm while you traipse the streets (always ducking in somewhere for a coffee/bite) If you forgot something, just head to Century 21 department store on Cortland Street & Broadway (next to ground zero in the Wall Street area) and buy what you need. It's a shoppers discount paradise. over 9 years ago

Want to visit Croatia sometime in the last half of 2010...when is the best time to go weather wise and what are the must see places?

I was there in early September and the weather was still warm but not stifling. It was starting to get a bit quieter with tourists and everywhere we went there were no issues with finding a hotel room, ample seating in restaurants and the roads/parks were not crowded at all. I loved Dubrovnik, Trogir and the island of Korcula was also lovely. I traveled by motorbike to Mostar, so I didn't see the northern part of Croatia. Mostar was gorgeous; a very different feel from the rest of the area. I noticed there were day trip bus trips to Mostar from Dubrovnik, but I would do at least a night. Herceg Novi and Kotor in Montenegro are gorgeous medieval towns nestled on the water against the rugged and dramatic mountains that abut the coast. be warned-it's Euros on Montenegro! I went to Split by ferry from Korcula, and only spent a day there in the center and exploring the market, so I can't say if it is worth a few days or not. I spied this site:http://www.croatia-map.net/. It has an interesting map and points of interest overlay. Have fun over 9 years ago

What are the best destinations in Venezuela?

I loved the islands of Los Roques. Get there by small charter planes from the domestic airport. At the time I went, all flights left in the morning and took passengers who just turned up as much as by pre-bookings. They are pat of a protected park and if perfect if you are looking for a serene and gorgeous get away. Once there, you can take smaller little boats that drop you off at isolated beaches and then come back to pick you up when you want. The main island does have a lively pulse in the evenings with no shortage of bars and restaurants. Bliss. over 9 years ago
