Tiger temple at Kanchanaburi? Reading mixed reviews, is it worth a visit along with the Kwai tour ? Going with two kids aged 8 &12.

Most likely your kids will love the Tiger Temple. It makes a nice contrast to the historical sites in Kanchanaburi, giving a bit more variety to your one day excursion. over 6 years ago

I want to do multi-day treks into more remote areas around Chiang Mai. Can anyone recommend a good outlet or guide service to book with?

Google a company called Bonvoyage Thailand. They are professionally run and offer a number of multi-day treks around Chiang Mai. over 6 years ago

    Chiang Rai hotel/guesthouse/boutique hotel

Oops - sorry. Mis-read your message and answered for Chiang Mai. Doh. Last time visiting Chiang Rai I stayed at Dusit Thani. Advertised rates are higher but if you catch one of their promotions it should be around your $40 range. (Wotif mystery deal or latestays perhaps?). It's walkable to the city centre just about, plus they have a shuttle. Rooms a little dated but the facilities are good. It's on it's own island in the river which is kind of cool. over 6 years ago

    Chiang Rai hotel/guesthouse/boutique hotel

I stayed at Rich Lanna House recently. It's a newish guesthouse on the edge of the old city wall. The quality of the rooms was excellent for the price. Location was convenient and place has a small pool and reasonable buffet breakfast. I think their smallest rooms will be around $40. (Perhaps you can negotiate depending how many nights you are staying). See: http://www.richlannahouse.com/hotel-home-1-1/Rich-Lanna-House-Chiangmai/ Hope that helps over 6 years ago

Going to Koh Samui, krabi & bangkok in mid july for honeymoon. Where to shop in Bangkok for reasonable clothes? Things to do in Samui?

The shopping centers around Siam BTS have just about everything you could hope for. Cheapest would be MBK and the stalls and small shops in Siam Square. Or for brand name clothing have a look at Siam Center, Siam Paragon or Central World. Around that area you can see a massive range of shopping options within a relatively short amount of time. A little further along Suhkumvit next to Asoke BTS there's another new mall called Terminal 21, which is themed in floors. Especially the upper floors tend to have smaller Thai designer stores and boutique collections which can be interesting. And finally, one more interesting night-time shopping experience is Asiatique on the riverside. You can catch a free shuttle boat from the pier near Saphan Taksin BTS. This is a cool place with lots of small shops, and good for food too. (It's essentially the new version of the famous night bizarre which used to be at Lumphini park). It's a great place to spend an evening and you can find some interesting stuff. over 6 years ago
