I want to go from Macedonia to Fethiye by car (across Canakkale). Is it safe?Is it hard to drive? Are the roads good?Is there a heavy traffic?
What's your nationality? I only ask because when I tried to take the train through Macedonia, I was kicked off because I'm Canadian, and apparently we need visas which we weren't, contrary to what we'd been told, able to purchase at the border. Other than that, I had no troubles. Felt pretty safe, despite the circumstances. But I was glad my boyfriend of the time was with me. Wouldn't want to be there alone. over 9 years ago
I tried to find the hostel I stayed at when I was in Porto, but I can't seem to find it. It's been awhile so it may have closed down. My best tip for Porto, if you have time, is to take a train along the Douro river valley - it's beautiful and scenic and an awesome day-trip from the city. As for Lisbon, anywhere near the historical and central area of Lisbon (Baixa) is probably best. Check this one out - I didn't stay there personally but I've heard good things : http://www.hostelworld.com/availability.php/Travellers-House/Lisbon/15588 Might I strongly suggest a trip to the Lagos/ the Algarve?! I had planned on spending 3 nights there and wound up staying over a week in an excellent hostel which I will never forget: http://www.hostelworld.com/availability.php/Residencial-Sol-a-Sol/Lagos/12529 The Algarve was, by far, my favourite place in all of Portugal. Definitely try to get there if you have a chance. :) And Coimbra is excellent too. We stayed here: http://www.hostelworld.com/availability.php/Guesthouse-Casa-Pombal/Coimbra/23504 and they have, to date, the best breakfasts I have tasted in any hostel/hotel in all my travels. :) Check it out if you're swinging by the area. Good luck!! :) over 9 years ago
