Travlng to EU for 9 days in first wk of Dec. We are in two minds over Spain and Portugal. Any suggestion. Can we do most of Spain in 9 days
You could visit two or three cities in Spain in 9 days, but you won't even start to get to know them in this short amount of time. Even dividing these 9 days between Barcelona and Madrid is a stretch. I would suggest picking a city and exploring it, with day trips. Madrid is perfect for this goal. It's the same deal with Portugal. Go to Lisbon, visit Sintra while you are there, or go to Porto and lounge around... There is no reason to be rushing around the country when you have so little time. If you choose Lisbon, Madrid or Barcelona as your destinations, consider renting an apartment instead of a hotel. Good deals to be had are here: http://www.sweethomeabroad.com/ over 7 years ago

Is it safe to carry a camera around in Barcelona?
Yes, it is safe to carry one, but with a strap around your neck or wrist. Do not put it down, and it's better to put it out of sight when you are not using it. over 7 years ago

Where to buy a holiday appartment along the Spanish coast?
Another thing to consider is whether you want to rent it out at some point, while you are not staying there (I assume you want to invest into a holiday home, not a primary residence). Renting out is easier in touristy places (obviously), so do keep that in mind. over 7 years ago
