How good is cell phone coverage in Suriname?

Digicel and Telesur cover 80-90% of the populated areas, but the more remote interior regions are still catching up. Fixed-line coverage is similar about 9 years ago

How can I book tickets to see the Taj Mahal ahead of time?

I don't think it's possible online and should be unnecessary for daytime viewing - the only delay to entry is passing through security checks. For moonlight viewings it's possible to buy tickets 24h in advance from the ASI offices: http://asi.nic.in/asi_monu_whs_agratajmahal.asp about 9 years ago

budget hotel less than $40/night in dubai in late november...clean!!!

Last month I stayed in the Premier Inn near Dubai Airport. It was built in Feb 2010 and is still clean and everything works. The on-site restaurant is quite expensive, but decent and the internet connection good. ~$40/night about 9 years ago

what type of electric plug sockets do they have?

There is a wide variety in use but I managed with just the two pin sockets, either flat or small round pins. See the sockets here: http://yourenotfromaroundhere.com/blog/2009/05/20/global-map-power-sockets-plug-types/ almost 9 years ago

Is it safe to travel solo in China for a female? Sticking to the major spots, not really going off track.

You'll be fine in the major spots. As anywhere, dress appropriately for your surroundings and try not to wander off too far alone as some of the tombs/temples can be quite sprawling. Assuming you're a Westerner, you may get stared at a lot, when walking, eating, shopping, anything, but they're being curious rather than threatening. Have fun about 9 years ago

What would be the best places (in rural China) to still experience ancient China?

To see a village barely touched by modern life consider Cuandixia, about 90km outside of Beijing: http://wikitravel.org/en/Cuandixia + http://www.google.com/images?q=cuandixia over 8 years ago

Where is a reasonable and convenient place to stay in London?

The cheapest, most convenient places of what I would consider reasonable quality tend to be the chains that cluster around the train stations. Premier Inn or Travelodge are perfectly comfortable, will have internet access and be close to restaurants/underground stations for under £70/night. If you're planning to take a day trip from London consider being close to the relevant station, i.e. London Bridge for Dover, Paddington for Bristol etc If your budget is somewhat higher, stay close to Covent Garden or Piccadilly to be within walking distance of most sights/restaurants/shows. If it's lower, then you'll be in Youth Hostels, although there is a decent Pod hotel called the http://www.piccadillyhotel.net/ As Sam said above, we need a few more criteria/details over 8 years ago
