    Family accommodation in Madrid

I would recommend to check booking.com for studio type accommodations. You will be able to find many studio type hotels. And some of them are also affordable and comfortable. If you were not more than 3, I would recommend San Vicente (http://www.booking.com/hotel/es/san-vicente-10.en.html). It is very close to the sightseeings and also in a good location (next to plaza de espana). They might have a larger studio than the one we stayed. Also I would recommend to check car parking facilities of the hotels you will be booking. Let me know if you have more questions or would like to learn more about Madrid. 3G iPad network

Turkcell is one of the largest and most famous GSM operators in Turkey. And it is more expensive than others. Yet Vodafone is an international and known company. Coverage of all the three operators is about 99% of Turkey. Thus, you will not have any problem with any of them in the destinations you wrote. We used Avea in Capadocia and it was okay. Plus: Turkey's GSM operators have high-speed connections when compared to US or other countries' operators. Prices: For a service with quota of 1GB/month, you may pay between 25TL (~$15) - 50TL (~$25). I would suggest you to see Turkcel, Vodafone and Avea shops (owned by them) and compare the prices. over 7 years ago

Can someone tell me how to travel from Istanbul to Canakkale to Selcuk and then from Selcuk back to Istanbul?

Hello, If you would like to travel by plane, you can fly from Sabiha Gokcen Airport to Canakkale Airport. Also there is a new flight to Gokceada a big island close to Canakkale. But I am not sure if you can find a flight directly from Istanbul. For flight lists you can check http://bulucak.com/ (has an English link) for all local flights. Also you can check www.anadolujet.com and www.thy.com.tr for airlines companies that have flights. Istanbul-Canakkale flight takes only 1 hour and the cheapest ticket (for early bookings from Anadolu JET) is 60TL (~30Euros). If you want to take a bus, -as replied above- you can take buses from the bus terminal directly to Canakkale or Izmir. Istanbul-Canakkale takes ~6 hours by bus. From Canakkale to Selcuk, you should arrive first to Izmir and then you can take small buses or dolmus's to Selcuk from Izmir Bus Terminal. Izmir - Canakkale may take nearly 4-5 hours (~350km). From Selcuk to Istanbul, you can fly from Izmir to Istanbul (first by bus/dolmus from Selcuk to Izmir). There are a plenty of flights from Izmir to Istanbul. Or you can take a bus from Izmir to Selcuk. As ersavas stated above, there seems to be direct buses from Selcuk to Istanbul. Selcuk-Izmir dolmus's are also depart from main bus terminal in Izmir, the same terminal for intercity departures and arrivals. These are some bus companies between Canakkale - Istanbul: http://www.kamilkoc.com.tr http://www.truvaturizm.com/ http://www.metroturizm.com.tr Truva Turizm and Metro Turizm also have buses between Izmir-Canakkale. If you need more details just reply or send a message :) over 8 years ago

Who knows the best Events at night in Sarigerme - Dalaman

I would suggest you to follow the event ads sticked on the walls in Sarigerme. I am not sure you will find so many events in Sarigerme or Dalaman. Yet, you may travel to Fethiye for event alternatives. over 8 years ago

We want to self drive through Turkey Syria Jordan. Is it possible to take a hirecar across the borders? If not, what's the alternative?

Hello, Hatay, in the southest of Turkiye, has a direct border with Syria. And you can find taxis instead of car rental to go to Syria. I am not sure whether they accept going to Jordan but why not. It depends on the money I guess. However, that would not be a good plan since the political situation in Syria is not stable for months. It would be better to by-pass Syria and go directly to Jordan by plane. There are direct flights from Turkiye to Jordan. over 7 years ago

We want to self drive through Turkey Syria Jordan. Is it possible to take a hirecar across the borders? If not, what's the alternative?

Exp: I am giving the taxi alternative since I think it will be a cheaper solution than car rental + you will have the taxi driver as a guide. And an update I got yesterday: On some days, Syria closes the borders with Turkiye and and also on some days Turkiye closes the borders with Syria, too. + There is a bit an increasing tension between Turkiye and Syria... over 7 years ago

Hubby & I planning long weekend Nov Istanbul. Even though no State Dept warnings not sure if all is "rosy" in Turkey. Any comments?

Istanbul is safe. And nearly all of the cities of Turkiye, too. Just keep a bit far away from some districts and that is enough. As suggested above, you can ask your hotel staff which areas to avoid. over 7 years ago
