Do you recommend visiting turkey with kids (3-12 yrs).

That would be a good plan for a holiday in Istanbul. I hope you will be fascinated in Black Sea region when you see the nature and mountains there. You can see some Black Sea tour plans on Turkish travel agencies' web sites. If not, let me know and I can send you some links and details. (ie: in Turkish - http://www.ayder.com.tr/turdetay_-1772.html). Route (please verify on maps): -Sile+Agva, -Zonguldak(nothing here), -Bartin (nothing very much), -Safranbolu (Unesco Cultural Heritance/Historical houses + A big canyon, eat/buy lokum), -Amasra (sea, swimming, fish/food), -Sinop (a city to see) -Samsun (nothing to much as well as I know) -Ordu (sightseeing, etc.) -Trabzon (Sumela Monastery, Natural sightseeings/Uzungol, beautiful plateaus + stay on some pensions&hotels in those plateaus) And for the accommodation, I am not sure if you want especially family accommodation but you can find many hotels, pensions on each destination. You should be aware that since it is the season, you may have difficulty in finding availability in good hotels. And for food, you can find fast food restaurants in city centrums; and also can find fast food (hamburgers, pizzas etc) in almost every destination. And if you like to taste a different cuisine, you can taste Turkish food and Black Sea cuisine. You can find almost everywhere some classical Turkish food: lahmacun, pide, kebab, chicken sis, grills, fish etc. Let me know if you would like more details ;) Have a nice trip and holiday. over 7 years ago

What should the average price of a taxi from ataturk airport to sultanahmet be??

I am not sure about the price but I would suggest you to take the subway. With only one transfer from one subway to another, you can arrive at Sultanahmet faster than a taxi since you can come across a traffic jam depending on your flight arrival. If you do have a lot of luggage, then ignore my suggestion. None of the transport options (other than taxi) would be comfortable with a large luggage. over 7 years ago

Going to Istanbul in early Sept 2013. Are US dollars accepted by taxis & other businesses?

Hello, I would recommend you to find an exchange office (plenty of them everywhere) and do some exchange. Or instead you can enter any bank office and you can convert your money without loss. You can see all exchange rates on the exchange offices boards; and ask the bank staff about the exchange rates. And definitely I would not recommend to offer paying in US dollars or Euros. Flying home from Istanbul, flight leaves at 6:30 am, any recommendations for an inexpensive hotel near the airport with clean rooms?

Hello, Here you can find the nearest hotels around Ataturk Airport. If your flight is from Sabiha Gokcen Airport, let me know and I can update the link. http://www.booking.com/airport/tr/IST.en.html Do not forget to check the hotels location on the map of booking.com. Hotels which are located in Yesilyurt (check address of the hotel) are around the Ataturk Airport (located in Yesilkoy). Have a nice flight and trip, over 6 years ago

Going to Istanbul for 8 nights, any hotel recommendations, don't want to spend a fortune, but need a good location. Going in March

This depends on your plan. Where and what places do you plan to see? What is your budget for a night stay? If you could write more details, I can recommend good locations and good hotels. Have a nice trip, over 6 years ago
