What are some interesting things to do in NY? I'm not interested in the normal sites, I would prefer to submerse myself in its culture.
Julliard School of Music always has great student performances. It's part of LIncoln Center. about 10 years ago
The West coast beaches are gorgeous but that is quite a drive. Vero Beach is south of Canaveral and our kids love staying at the Disney Resort there...lots to do for kids. www.disneybeachresorts.com about 10 years ago
Is there any airline (or charter) which flies from Hamburg directly into Tampa (alternative Orlando or Fort Myers), Florida?
If you can use Globespan it flies direct from Glasgow Scotland to Sanford (Orlando) Florida for very cheap. I believe it has flights within Europe but I don't know about Hamburg. www.flyglobespan.com about 10 years ago
There are SO many beaches within a 90 minutes drive. The Canaveral National Seashore is lovely - very quiet. There's also a wildlife driving tour within the park where you can see many alligators. You have to stay in Cocoa, however, the National Seashore is deserted of hotels. Cocoa Beach has many condos, the sand is sort of brown, but you can dine outside while watching cruise ships dock and there are alot of beachy shops. New Smyrna Beach is mostly condos and restaurants - it's considered Central Florida's "backyard" - a family kind of beach. Parts of it you can drive on, though, so it's more quiet at the southern end. It's known for great surfing and eating. www.vrbo.com has lots of condos for all of these beaches. Daytona is AWFUL - too many cars on the beach, rowdy college kids, pretty dumpy. Ormand, further north of Daytona is nicer if you like quiet but the shore is narrower. And heading south of Canaveral is Sebastian which has a lighthouse, then on to Melbourne, Vero,....the beaches get nicer as you head south in general. about 10 years ago
