Best place to stay for spa resort facilities on the beach. Spa, steam room and a 'balinese' style preferred. Thanks!

I would recommend Nusa Dua and Jimbaran Bay as well. Nusa Dua also has good markets to stroll through during the day You will love it there the people are so nice... over 9 years ago

Suggestions for low-mid price hotels which border the disneyland park?

We stayed at the Hilton which is also across the road from Disneyland in 2005. It was allot cheaper than some of the smaller places which are directly across the road from Disneyland. I don't know if it has gone up in price but it was a pretty good deal when we statyed there. All we did was walk out the back of the hotel cross the road and waited for the mini train to take us in to Disnyland. over 9 years ago

holidaying in fiji in January...anyone done it? does it rain that much? wanting to go to Savusavu

Just got back from Fiji 1 weeks ago it it was the start of the rain (wet) season. We didn't encounter any rain at all the whole time we were there and we were on Denanru Island which is just off the main island. Another couple we met however we ataying in Suva for most of their trip and had rain the whole time. Out on Mana and other islands it was sunny the whole time so i guess it just depends on where you are planning on staying. It was really overcast in the afternoon but the mornings were fantastic. It was the best time to be out on the water for water sports. over 9 years ago

    Your top tips please

Fishing and Snorkelling is best on the top side of Zanzibar - i just wish i could remember what the name of the place was that i stayed at. Once you are there you can just book it in with the guys on the beach. Some of the people i was with went Diving as well. At night they can also take you on a Sunset Set Cruise - our guy never showed up so we just had a few drinks on the beach. They have all the gear there for you for either snorkelling or diving.... I didn't do any snorkelling this time around but some of the people i was with said it was like something they had never seen! I am not to sure about fishing but i am sure if you ask they will find a way for you to do it as they all need the money over there. There was this amazing over the water restaurant so we went for a walk along the beach to it. the guards let us on so we could check it out. There was so many tropical fish swimming around there. Worth having a look at. Be careful of jellyfish in Zanzibar tho - that is the only warning i have apart from that it is truly amazing. almost 10 years ago

    Your top tips please

Zanzibar was amazing. I travelled by boat from Dar es Salaam to the Zanzibar port. You have to make sure you have your passport on you as it get stamped going in and out of Zanzibar. I stayed in a hostel which was nice and cheap. As it is mainly Muslim over there you have to cover up so no walking around in a bikini top. I only stayed down south of the island for a few days then headed north which had the most amazing beaches i have ever seen, crystal clear waters. There were great hotels to stay at and cheaper ones as well. I stayed in a hostel again and it was excellent. I spent most of the time either at the beach bar or lying on the sand and swimming. Up north of Zanzibar you can walk around in your swimmers. Most of the places in Zanzibar are cheap but then you do get some that are well over priced. If you wanted to book in advance you can but other wise just wonder around while you are over there and you will find places to stay that are cheap. All hotels have the mosquito nets and a shower and toilet which is all you need really when you are in Zanzibar. It is great to get lost in the tiny streets and shopping. I had a excellent meal which i am sorry i cannot remember the name of the place but it did great western food. I would go back to Zanzibar for sure. I did get in trouble by the police while over there because i was taking a photo of a sign but my camera looked like i was talking a photo of the police they wanted me to show them that i didn't take a photo of them so just be careful of that. I would also suggest the night markets they are great. If you are going on your own tho i would not suggest going out at night time and only stick to places where you see westerners. Oh i could keep talking about Zanzibar so if you have any questions just ask. almost 10 years ago

How can I get from Brisbane (city) to the Gold Coast? Bus? Train?...

I agree with Ian the train is the best way to get to the gold coast. I have also driven but that also depends on hwo you feel driving somewhere different. Best options i would say is train! almost 10 years ago

How safe is it for a single (male) backpacker to visit Jo'burg?

I would tend to agree with wilskim. Take care around Johannesburg if you are in a taxi make sure you lock your door. Always be careful of your backpack and other items and always be on the look out. I wouldn't travel Johannesburg on my own at all, if i was you i would find a group and do day trips etc. I went on my own where i was there and for a females in her mid twenties i felt very venerable to people even at the airport let along in the city. Take care and be on the look out. People are always willing to help you out as well over there so choose the people you ask questions off carefully! almost 10 years ago
