Best spots to see fireworks for New Years Eve in Sydney?

I turned up to Balls Head Reserve at around 11:30 on NYE 10->11. There were plenty of people but it wasn't at all cramped. It had an awesome view of 2 sets of fireworks, one of those being the bridge. I thought it was definitely a sweet spot in terms of great view and not being too cramped with people. I'll probably do the same spot next year if I'm around at the time. over 8 years ago

Need suggestions for a minimalistic designed hotel in New York?

When I was in NYC I stayed in the AKA: Central Park which is on West 58th Street, 1 block away from Central Park. The hotel interior was modern and relatively minimalist, the rooms were clean, modern. The price was great compared with other NY hotels, under $200USD a night, I'd stay there again. http://www.hotelaka.com/locations/central_park/default.aspx over 9 years ago

do i have to use my visa debit card in usa or can i use my normal eftpos card??

I'm not sure about at point of sale. But when I'm in the US, I have no problems going to an ATM and pulling out a chunk of cash with my savings card. As long as your savings card has the Maestro symbol you'll be able to use it at most ATMs in USA, you get hit with a fee, but I doubt it's any worse than the international credit card fees I get hit with. I generally use my VISA for anything big, and keep cash on hand for the smaller stuff. USA is extremely credit card friendly though, even for smaller stuff. over 9 years ago

where can i go skiing in tasmania?

Ben Lomond is your best chance at skiing in Tasmania the moment. That said, the conditions look pretty dismal. Getting any decent snow in Tasmania growing up was always a long shot. Current snow report is at: http://ski.com.au/reports/australia/tas/benlomond/index.html The big ben lift is closed, which isn't a good sign ... sorry to be the bearer of bad news. over 8 years ago

Does anyone know of any good sushi restaurants in Sydney?

Wasavie has been my favourite by far, extremely fresh fish, cut well, and they do some great other hot Japanese dishes (Pork Belly to die for and great Beef Tataki). It's BYO and there's a bottleshop next door, the chef also prepares the fish from scratch in front of you, depending on where you get to sit. http://www.wasavie.com.au/ One place to avoid: I went to "Sushi E", fresh fish, but cut poorly (noticable sinew), and the hot dishes were so so. almost 10 years ago

What's your favorite alley-way bar in Sydney?

Easily Stickies in Surry hills! Its above Table for 20. That place alone has be addicted to sour drinks, whiskey sours and a crazy drink titled the Godfather. The bartenders here are truly masterful. about 9 years ago

I only have 2 days in New York City. What should I do?

If you're hungry at some point, I'd grab a burger from Shake Shack http://shakeshacknyc.com/ Two locations on the main island, one in Madison Square Park (I'd go to this one) and one in Upper West Side. almost 10 years ago
