If you don't want to get on a boat, at least get on a bus (or take a taxi) to Shek O. Find a quiet place to stay there and enjoy the beach and the local restaurants. It's rustic but not too remote, there are no tall buildings in sight, the beach and scenery are beautiful, and there are lots of lovely hikes you can take. And if you need to get back to the city quickly, it's only a 30 minute bus ride (even faster in a taxi). about 8 years ago
