What's your favorite Australian drinking beer?

I would have to say Cascade Green, so crisp and refreshing. I'm also partial to Pure Blonde, you can drink it all night almost 9 years ago

Do you know of some quality 4 star resorts on Kata Beach, Phuket?

Actually, alot of the 4 star resorts are a bit more expensive than I though, if there are any 3 star gems that you know of that would be great. over 9 years ago

what's the best hostel in cairns?

One of the best resorts i've ever stayed in is The Lakes. Pools, restaurant, bar, gym. A little bit out of the city but you can still walk to town in about 20-30 minutes. Great place to come back to if you're doing day trips to the reef or out of town. http://www.thelakescairns.com.au/index.php over 9 years ago

Where can I buy used bicycles in Hobart?

There are two websites that sell secondhand bikes that I know of Hobart wheelers and Dirt Devils has a forum where people can post bikes to buy and sell. The following link will take you to the forum: http://www.dirtdevilsmtb.com/forum/viewforum.php?forum_id=14 There is also a website called Pedalbite (www.pedalbite.com) which also has a classifieds section in the forum, you can check the location of the bike when viewing the post. Most bike shops also sell second hand bikes if you go in and ask they will show you what they have. over 9 years ago

Where is a decent place for a week's stay for 5 people?

I know of two places which may appeal to you depending on what your plans are while you are there. The first place is called The Lakes. It is a resort about 30 minutes walk from the city centre. The place is really modern and is set up like a micro suburb. There is a main street, which is lined with apartment buildings with around 20 apartments in each. It has three pools, a restaurant / bar, a gym and heaps of bbq facilities. You could spend the whole of your holiday there if you so wished, but both times I have been there I have done trips to Port Douglas, Mossman, and the reef and still made use of the offerings. I rate it highly. And It's not that expensive considering everything you have available to you, you can get a three bedroom apartment for around $300 a night. Check Out: http://www.thelakescairns.com.au/index.php Obviously if you plan on spending your time out seeing what Cairns and surrounding area's has to offer then the aforementioned highlights may not seem that enticing. I have stayed at another place called The Tropical Queenslander. It's a bit more budget, has two small pools and is about 20 minutes walk to the city centre. I stayed there recently with three others in a room with a double and two singles for about $150 a night. It was alright, although the bedding was pretty average and the air conditioners noisy. But it did the job. There is another place a bit closer in on the same street called the Cairns Queenslander, it isn't meant to be as good as the Tropical Queenslander but I don't know what the difference in price is. If price is an issue then I would go for the Tropical Queenslander, but the extra cost of The Lakes is definately made up in comfort and facilities. Hope that helps Leigh. almost 10 years ago

    Good surf beaches near Devonport?

There are a few good surf spots in Devonport, unfortunately they aren't pumping all that often. Try the river mouth, on the east or west side depending on the swell, or Coles beach. Winter is definately the time of year when the surf is best and a wetsuit is probably a good idea although the water is generally a bit warmer than on the West or South coast of Tasmania. over 10 years ago

Where are the best dive spots?

There is an island called Koh Tao, which is one of the islands around Koh Samui in the south-east of Thailand. This island is small and relatively untouched compared to the other tourist islands in the area. It is a beautiful part of Thailand and snorkelling and diving trips around the island are run pretty much daily, I would recommend going there if you are in the area. over 10 years ago
