Plans for a New Zealand snow season

If you arrive in Wanaka early enough, with some money up your sleeve to survive a few weeks, then I am sure you'll be able to find work when you get there. Be aware that the season doesn't really kick in til July, so work might be a bit scarce until the snow really starts to fall. I would wait til you get there to sort out lift passes etc. You might find a job where this is included as a perk. Can not comment on which resort is better for snowboarding, as a skier, my personal preference isTreble Cone, which is easily accessible from Wanaka. I don't have any specific advice on buying a car, but you might like to try these guys: http://www.spaceshipsrentals.co.nz/contact-us/spaceships-for-sale - They do sell some of their vans periodically and if not, they might be able to point you in the right direction. Have never sent gear by post - freight is probably a better option. almost 9 years ago

Would I get charged by customs if I bought a new projector into Australia?

From memory when I arrived back into AUS last week through customs, you have to declare items valued over $AUD1000 which have been purchased overseas. You run the risk of getting caught and perhaps fined if you don't declare it so it really depends on how much you value the item, and if you declare it in the first place. almost 9 years ago

What time of year to visit Airlie Beach?

Agree, Spring is lovely. Clear skies, sunny days, stingers are unlikely (but you're probably not going to get in the water off Airlie anyway as it is mainly mud flats). There's a salt water lagoon (see above comment), which is the best place to swim in Airlie. almost 9 years ago

Has anyone been to the great wall of china?

Yes, just got back from a 5 day hiking trip. We did a private tour provided by Great Wall Adventure Club, and it was certainly worthwhile. We chose the 5 day trek tour http://greatwalladventure.com/5-day-East-Qing-Tomb-Mutianyu.htm and got access onto the Wall in parts that were marked as "closed to the public". Excellent and highly recommended. almost 9 years ago

What would you recommend doing in the Royal National Park, Sydney? Any must-try restaurants or activities?

The 2 day hike down the Coast is excellent. You can camp overnight or stay at the YHA at Garie Beach www.yha.com.au/hostels/nsw/sydney-surrounds/garie-beach/ From Sydney, catch the train to Cronulla, then ferry across to Bundeena to start the walk. You can then catch the train back from Otford. almost 9 years ago
