Where is the best place in China to visit poor, rural areas
I recommend Yunnan province. It is one of the most beautiful in China and I have done treks in the northern and southern parts. My favourite is in Xishuangbanna. You can trek close to the border of Myanmar, and stay with local tea growers and experience their lifestyle. The food in town (Jinghong) was a delicious fusion of Burmese, Thai and Chinese -- so chilly! I used chinatrekking.com to plan most of my trips around China. Safe travels! :) about 8 years ago

Going on a family holiday to Hong Kong with daytrips to Shenzhen - which has the better shopping and what to do in shenzhen?
It all depends on what you want to buy. Hong Kong is a nexus of shopping malls filled with chain-stores as well as local bargains. It's convenient, easy to navigate and fun. Shenzhen offers the gritty side of China, you can get good knock-offs and prices *can* be cheaper than in HK. However, if you are after genuine products, HK can't be beaten. For example, H&M in China and HK has the same numerical value but the difference in exchange rate means it's around 20% cheaper to buy in HK than in China. about 8 years ago

How/where can I find a cheap apartment to rent for a few months in London?
Airbnb.com, Wimdu.com or Tripadvisor's Vacation Rentals section. All have served me well in Asia, Europe, Australia and the Americas. Good luck! about 8 years ago

How controversial is it to visit Halong Bay? I've heard that the area is being compromised environmentally.
I visited Halong Bay in June 2011. I felt that its environment was heavily compromised. The place is overrun by tours with very little concern for waste, and conservation. However, part of my visit included Nam Cat island and rock-climbing with a company who are conscious of these issues and when we went to Moody Beach for the climb, we spent a while picking up rubbish left by the local fishermen and chatting about the issues. But there are people and companies around who care to preserve Halong Bay's beauty, so you just have to find them. Nam Cat was also much cleaner with a helluva lot less tourists, and just as beautiful. about 8 years ago

Hi, traveling to Vietnam Phu quoc island for 3 days need suggestions on eats n drinks and places not to miss or/and anything else....thanks
The Night Markets! The atmosphere is fun and the food is fresh and delicious! I ate there every night (at different stall) and I spent a week on the island - and there was more I didn't have tine to try. I thought Long Beach was the best, had the cleanest area because its in front of resorts. So, was well kept. I had lunch at an Indian restaurant on the main road parallel to Long Beach, called Ganesh. Genuine yummy Indian cuisine! Enjoy! over 8 years ago

The cheapest way will be by air. However, usually the more stopovers the better the price. So, you can either take a stopover in Ha Noi or HCM city then onward to Da Nang, then you'll need ground transport to Hoi An. Maybe you can also organise flights to Kuala Lumpur then Da Nang with AirAsia. Best to check http://www.skyscanner.com over 8 years ago

what time of the year is the best to visit singapore?? not cold but also not too hot but defiantly sun shine and warmth?? : )
Singapore is in the tropics. It never drops below high 20s. So, I guess you could say they don't even have a winter. Just summer and freaking hot summer. It's always humid, sunny and warm unless its humid, raining and warm. I say the coolest times would be September to March, with the rainy season being from November to February. over 8 years ago
