How to get from Luxor to the pyramids in Giza

You have two options to get from Luxor to Giza either by sleeper train but then you have to spend 2 nights in the train but this is cheaper than the flight. The second option you can take the flight. Many travel agencies provide day tours to Cairo by flight including lunch and you can get good rates from them http://www.egyptholidaysdirectory.com over 8 years ago

what is the status at Egypt today? Is it still safe to go? We are scheduled to fly into Luxor on the 12th of June.

I totally agree with Phil just be a little cautious and every thing will turn fine. but specially on the 17th of June be more careful because of the second round of the presidential elections, as some might protest just ask the locals or the front desk of your hotel and they will direct you what best to do and the safest places to go avoiding any demonstrations. over 8 years ago

Where is the best place to live in North Cairo in a Western area within walking distance of stores, restaurants and furnished apartments?

Maadi is a nice residential place in the suburbs of Cairo. It is quiet and lots of shops and shopping places are easily accessible. But it is not near Down Town Cairo. I would recommended if you would like a place with easy accessibility to all parts of Cairo is Zamalek which is as well a high end living place with embassies and many shopping facilitates. You would expect in Maadi and Zamalek that the prices for the residential places to be higher than in any part in Cairo, as well as prices for vegetables and fruits. Dokki is another good place if you would like a centrally located area in Cairo, with lots of accommodation facilities. I would recommend for you Mohandseen area it is a lively place with almost all shops and stores you can imagine, supermarkets at every corner. But mind you this this a bustling district and it is very hard to find a parking lot for your car. At rush hours you can take a long time to move from one place to another. over 8 years ago

Any opinions about booking a Nile cruise in the spring in regard to safety. Egypt is not on state dept. list.

Luxor and Aswan is safe so there will be no problem in having a Nile Cruise. Many tourists are now in Luxor and Aswan and although there are some clashes in down town Cairo the tourists do not feel it as it is centered only in Tahrir square, and people of Cairo practice their normal lives and daily activities. about 9 years ago

Have 3 days in Egypt. Is that enough to see Cairo & Luxor?

Yes this will be enough if you compact your visits You can dedicate one day in Cairo to visit the Pyramids of Giza, Memphis and Sakkara The other day you can go to the Egyptian Museum, Citadel of Salah El Din, Old Coptic Cairo and Khan El Khalili Bazaar Then the third day this will be for Luxor but to make it possible this has to be by flight, you leave in the mornign visit Luxor East and West bank and if there is time before your flight you can have a felucca ride to banana island then return back to Cairo at night. about 9 years ago
