How to kill a week in Auckland ?

There are a lot of second hand and retro-type stores on k-road (just all the way up queen street). You might also like Newmarket (Stores), Ponsonby (Has some art galleries) and Parnell (Auckland Museum and Food), CBD (Skytower) or take the ferry from Britomart to Devonport and climb the hill for a scenic view. If you have more free time get to Waiheke Island for a 2 days, a 40mins Ferry ride away from central Auckland. It's a pretty nice and quiet island, can rent a bike there or do some wine tastings and tours, or go to the beach if it is not to cold for you. Use the link bus to get around, either the green one or the new yellow-orange busses - see www.maxx.co.nz . They drive around the city center and the suburbs around the cbd every few minutes, cost $1.80 and you always end up at britomart in the city center sooner or later if you catch the green or yellow bus. over 7 years ago

Driving from Darwin to Broome...is it safe?

It's as safe as anywhere else in Australia. Just stay at campgrounds overnight, and not just at the side of the road and you will be ok. If you are concerned about breakdowns then just drive in a convoy with other travelers. You can find other backpackers or traveler at http://www.shareyourride.net/rides/Darwin+to+Broome/760-718/ , or check the local hostel boards. over 7 years ago

It's easy to find accommodation in Thailand?

No problem there; just walk into any hotel and let you show the room, or ask any of the many travel agents booths on the road or the taxi/tuktuk drivers - however the last will eventually take you to their uncle/brother/parents home and try to rent you out a spare bed in the living room area - but don't be offended if that happens; just ask if you can see another hotel instead. over 7 years ago

Where in South East Asia can I find the most beautiful palaces and temples?

Bangkok itself has quite a few temples in walking distance from the city. over 7 years ago

My family is heading to Thailand in 6 months. Any suggestions on how to get my fussy daughter ready for the food over there?

prepare her for the worst and tell her about the fried insects, worms, etc. it's not so bad actually, i have not really seen any "weird" food - however i didn't feel that adventurous. the usual asian stuff with curry and rice of course, chicken, seafood but you can also get lot's of vegetarian food, fruits or a pizza if you want. over 7 years ago

What are the best malls/markets in KL

shopping for what exactly? if you are in the city center you will find what you're looking for, just because there are malls for everything. However, the smaller shops all around the city center offer much more variety, and you probably get better deals there. over 7 years ago

Looking for a good value hotel in central Madrid

Can recommend Hostal Los Alpes (Fuencarral, 17, 01.Centro, 28004 Madrid). Pretty central, nice clean rooms but pretty pricey for a hostel (~40Euro). However, other hostels in the central area are in the same price range over 7 years ago

We can't do a lot of walking. We're going on a cruise. We need easy tours In Stockholm, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Tillonn & Copenhagen.

How long do you stay in stockholm and what exactly are you looking for? The Skansen (http://www.skansen.se/en/) and Vasa Museum (http://www.vasamuseet.se/en/) is a must see; and of course the inner city is quite nice. almost 8 years ago
