Any advice on good prepaid SIM cards for traveling around Europe and UK?

In the UK Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile and 3 all have pre-paid or Pay As You Go sims for local calls but if you're travelling with a laptop then I'd say Skype would be your best bet for calling home. about 10 years ago

Where to take a girl on a date?

Trafford or Arndale Centre, give her your credit card and meet her in about 3 hours. You'll be married (but broke) within a week! ;) Seriously though there's so uch to do. A good date bar is the Bluu Bar in the Northern Quarter. It's very chilled with intimate spaces and a good Brasserie attached for food. There's a great Tapas place on Deans Gate. Although a word of advice from experience. If you go there on a date, make sure its not while Spain are playing in football match and if they are certainly don't abandon the girl in favour of sitting in the kitchen with the chefs watching the match. It doesnt go down well although you do get free chorizo.... Another good place is Cloud 23 on the 23rd floor of the Hilton Tower with great views of the city. If its a sunny day you could also go down to a place called Dukes 92 which is right next to the Canal and great for alfresco weekend relaxing about 10 years ago

places to go and see at Karon

There's not a huge amount in Karon itself apart from the beach, it's a lovely beach though. Right now it's quite quiet so you'll have a couple of miles of pristine white sand pretty much to yourself/ You could use the facilities at the Hilton (Pools, Tennis, Gym, Bar's) for a day fee which is about half way down Karon beach towards Kata. There is a Wat or Temple which has a market a couple of days a week which is on the main road from Karon Circle to Chalong (Patak Road) which is worth a visit. At the southern most end of Karon as you go into Kata there is a Mini Golf actuvity with a Dinosaur Theme which is actually pretty good. About 10 minutes drive north is the main tourist area of Patong, between th 2 there is so interesting Nightlife to check out. There is the late, late open air nightclub called Safari where everyone goes after the main bars and clubs shut. They have some pretty strange offerings such as "Dunk The Lady Boy" and a climbing wall along with a huge screen you can sometimes watch sports on. There is also the Phuket Fantasea which is also apparently well worth the visit although I havent made it down yet. You can do fishing trips from Chalong Pier, about 15 minutes drive, or for the nicest beach in Southern Phuket, head to Nai Harn, along the waythere are a couple of Elephant Trek / Sanctuarys. Enjoy and e4mail me if you want anything specific or more details. I live in Kata so just next door. about 10 years ago

What are some good places to visit if you have seven days based in Athens?

I was only there for 2 days a year or so ago during the Champions League Final. Syntagma square is a nice place to hang out and have something to eat / drink (much more so if there aren't 50,000 football fans milling about!) As far as Historical sites you're surrounded by them but you HAVE to see the Acropolis, Theater of Dionysos, and if you can get out to Marathon to see where the biggest Greek battle ever took place and of course where the messenger ran from back to the Acropolis to give news of the victory giving us the modern day name for the long distance race... over 10 years ago

    Good Honeymoon places?

Bora Bora as in Ibiza? Not sure that's an "ideal honeymoon" resort... The Maldives is pretty much the quintessential honeymoon paradise. I went there to celebrate an engagement and it was almost entirely set up for honeymoon couples. Desert Islands surrounded by crystal blue lagoons which drop off into the Indian Ocean. Diving with the most amazing sea life, turtle watching, boat trips to take couples to their very own deserted islands, you get dropped off in the morning with a romantic picnic and supplies for the day and left completely on your own to do as you please and then picked up again just as the sun is setting... Our hotel had amazing food and would set up romantic tables on the beach for anyone that wanted so you could sit under the stars and have the perfect dinner... You won't get much trekking done unless you do laps of your hotel / island but there's plenty of watersports and if you're on Honeymoon I'm sure you'll find plenty to occupy yourselves in private!! over 10 years ago

What are the best clubs in Prague?

Mecca was worth the visit, very cheap drinks and had an upmarket but underground feel not many tourists... 21 on the main Wenceslas Square was also really good, rooftop club over 2 floors with unbelieveably attractive clientelle and a great view over the city. over 10 years ago

Has anyone played golf in Scotland or Ireland and what were the best courses ? Also, how hard was it to get on and what sort of prices ?

St Andrews, Turnburry, Loch Lomand, Turnberry... Vistors can play all of these although different restrictions apply. You'll have to wear suitable attire for each, have a proveable handicap and proper shoes. Check for special offers as there should be plenty of discounts about from experience days and that kind of site. over 10 years ago

What are the best gastro pubs in London?

Errr I'd have to disagree slightly. Have eaten at Firestables and while its nice I would say there are better... Depends on what exactly you're after, there's different takes on "Gastro Pub" these days. At the upper end of the spectrum you have the Gordon Ramsay "The Grapes" between Wapping & Canary Wharf and also "The Gun" which is famous for its Sunday Lunch. You can sit outside with the Thames only inches away. At the more wallet friendly, relaxed style you have places like the "Jolly Gardners" in Putney which has amazing food, sundays used to have a live DJ playing an ecletic mix of downtempo music and also board games to while away the hours. Be prepared for a wait though as there's no booking system just arrive and wait to grab a suitable table. You have plenty of other places dotted around. The Earl Spencer on Merton Road (Wimbledon / Wandsworth) Has won loads of awards for Londons Best Gastro Pub over the years although I found the atmosphere a bit cold... Had some great meals in West London along e High Road Brasserie on Chiswick Hig Road (celebrity owned again) was top end, as was The Ealing Park Tavern and the Rocket in Acton.. Plenty of choices, just depends where you're staying at what kind of atmosphere you're after! over 10 years ago
