5 days to spare between Montpellier and Athens, what to do?

Otherwise, head down to the coast. Marseille or Nice both have airports that I'm sure would fly to Athens. Nice is obviously more upmarket but Marseille is more bohemian (as long as you stay away from the bronx style projects at night.). almost 10 years ago

5 days to spare between Montpellier and Athens, what to do?

You could always try catching a flight down to Turkey (Bodrum) and then catch a ferry up to Athens (Via Kos). I did this a few years agao and was a great trip. You could spend a night or 2 on Kos and enjoy some island life which is MUCH nicer than Athens! almost 10 years ago

Karon Markets - when are the Karon Night Markets

Hi there, As I wrote in the email to you below. Also just remembered the guy who organised the fishing trip for us ran the "Chocolate Bar" on the front at Rawai Beach. I can; find his number but if you pop down he can sort it for you, for the next day. I can't remember the exact price but it was less than a 3rd of the ones that advertise on Thai Visa, Teak Door etc... It was great value. A full out rigged fishing charter boat from 9.30am to about 5pm with drinks and lunch included and we were the only 3 on board. The night markets are on the main road from Karon Circle (Patak Road) so it's the 1st exit off the circle if you were driving from Patong, I used to go on Saturday mornings which were in the Temple grounds. It looked the same as pretty much every other night market. Lots of touristy souvenirs, mens & womens clothes, swim shorts, t-shirts. Sunglassses, and lots of great food stalls. The closest area to the Temple itself was my favourite food stall. Ska Bar, the fire dancers are there on Fridays, haven't seen them any other night so far. But they are the waiters so pop down any time and you can ask them what specific time. The place I eat the most at used to be called GuayJab, which is now called Red. If you come from Karon to Kata on the beach road, go all the way to the end where if you turn right you are heading towards Kata Noi & left takes you to Kata Hill & Patak Road (The main road to Chalong) Red is about half a mile up on the right. The cheapest, and possibly my favourite is also on the same road. It's further up on the left hand side and has a birght yellow sign outside. It's a co-op type place so there is a bar, pool club inside and 2 little restaurants share the outside patio with maybe 3 or 4 tables. There is a soup stall at one end but the good part is at the beach end of the building. It's run by a lady called Noi who does a great Red Curry and if you ask nicely she will make you a special Massaman the next day. almost 10 years ago

Which Hilton should I choose for modern feel & city location? - Tower Bridge, Hyde Park, Euston, or Metropole?

The Hyde Park one is cool and you can get an amazing view if you get a high enough room. think I stayed on the 22nd floor. It's also in the heart of the West End for shopping and tourist sightseeing. Tower Bridge is a lot newer and part of the recent More London development. You have the river, Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast, The Globe Theatre, Tower of London etc etc etc. It's not as manic down there but you can still get just as much touristy stuff done. The jubilee line also gets you into piccadilly in about 10 minutes. almost 10 years ago

Can you give us a good drinking place and restaurantsin Holborn ?

As far as drinking places you have LOADS round there. You're within 5 minutes walk of Covent Garden, there are some good bar's along Great Queen Street & Longacre. One of my favourite Thai restaurants in London is directly behind Hoborn station at the end of a passage way. Either turn left out of the station and take first passage on the left or turn right take the 2nd passage on the right. I think it's called Poo's Thai Brasserie and it is very quiet, with a small outside area that looks down towards Lincolns Inn Fields. Dow High Holborn you also have a couple of Hotel Bars, and a massive variety of food places from informal noodle bars to silver service within the hotel. almost 10 years ago

What is the best way to travel from India to Thailand?

Myanmar is notoriously difficult for Visa's. Getting one to cross the country is the most diifficult according to my research last year. Although all of this changes day by day, which also means even if you do get a visa you might still have problems when you get to the border. If you can find a way north you may be able to pick up the tran-siberian railway and then go via China and down. almost 10 years ago

Where can I find good shopping in Phuket? In particular - places that sell imitation handbags?

I think you're talking about Patong and not Phuket as in Phuket Town / City Rachel? Bangla road leading from the beach during the day and then head over to Jung Ceylon. Its a massive shopping centre and there are plenty of "imitation" products available from DVD's to Bags, shoes, fashion and pretty much anything else you can ask for. There's plenty of proper shops as well if you want the real thing. about 10 years ago
