Need to renew my lost passport, but can't find birth certificate... PLEASE HELP

You can order your British Birth certificate here: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Governmentcitizensandrights/Registeringlifeevents/Familyhistoryandresearch/Birthmarriageanddeathcertificates/DG_175628 You can expect to be waiting 2 weeks, so if you do it now, you should have time before April. over 8 years ago

Is Egypt and the pyramids worth the effort?

Yes yes yes yes yes. I backpacked around Egypt for 3 weeks and it was the most amazing time of my life. Sure, there are lots of tourist traps and tourists, but nothing can compete with the absolute magnificence of the Pyramids. Go inside them too! over 8 years ago

What's a good budget hotel or nice hostel in the centre of London?

A great website for finding hostels anywhere, and london is: www.hostelsclub.com. A good one I know of is The Phoenix, just near Baker St. station; or Palmers Lodge in Swiss Cottage : ) Happy travelling almost 9 years ago

What electrical adaptor(s) should we take for a stay in Beijing?

China uses a combination of sockets, but it is being standardised, so it depends where you are staying as to which one you get. Some sockets are available which are compatible with both sockets. It also depends where you are from. This website gives a pretty good explanation: http://www.travelfeeder.com/travel_tips/packing-list-power-socket-adaptor-for-china-travel almost 9 years ago

Does a eu adapter cover all european countries?

EU adaptors cover most EU countries. However, the UK has a different plug which you can get an adaptor for. Also, the Scandanavian countries have a different one. You may also come across a different plug in Italy/Switzerland. You can buy universal adaptors before you go or when you get there, and if you don't want to buy one, most hostels rent out adaptors when you need them so that you don't have to carry one around with you. almost 9 years ago

Things to do in port macquarie?

Little Fish Cafe at Innes Lake Winery is also really nice if you are into that kind of thing. Also, further down on The Ruins Way are the ruins of Major Innes' house and homestead. From the ruins you also get a fantastic view of Innes lake. A walk along town green and down the break wall is also really nice. If you are feeling up to it, you can do the whole coast walk from town to the lighthouse. On the river you can do jetskiing, from the pier in town, or if you go up to Settlement point, there is a great kayak hire place which is really fantastic. The historic cemetery is also worth a visit. The gardens there are beautiful and the boardwalk through the mangroves. It is also home to some of the first settlers in Australia. Markets to go to include the artist market at the maritime museum (opposite town beach) on saturday mornings and the markets at Westport high school on sundays or out on hastings river drive. They are all full of great local products. About 30 minutes south of Port are the towns of lake Cathie, Bonny Hills, Lauriton and Camden Haven which are cute too. I hope that has given you some inspiration. almost 9 years ago

How do you avoid pickpockets in Paris?

I agree with the above. Also, avoid having valuables in a backpack, as you cannot have your eyes on it all the time. Under clothes belts are the best for important items. You can also buy some very safe bags like: http://www.pacsafe.com/www/index.php I have found them very useful and reliable. almost 9 years ago
