Ideas for a family vacation to Scotland?

Make time for a trip out to the Isle of Sky. It is just BEAUTIFUL. Similarly, Invermoriston is a little haven, a day down by the river is a day well spent. Also, go to Lochness, in the town of Fort Augustus. There is a little show that runs there about the Scots and the highlanders. Everyone gets dressed up and there is a lot of brandishing of swords and things, something that might appeal to the boys. Also, Edinburgh is a beautiful capital city. There are some great ghost tours which operate at night time, revealing a side of the city you wouldn't expect. A climb up to Arthurs seat is a must also, but choose a clear day (unlike me)... I hope that gives you some good ideas. I mean, the main tourist attractions are generally worth it in my opinion, so don't skip them completely! over 8 years ago

What are the best places to stay in New York for 5 days in October?

Well, first of all I recommend that you stay in the Manhattan Borough, if you want the NY experience. If you can afford to lash out, the Four Points Sheraton in Soho is very nice; or for a more economical approach, the YMCA is in a great location - right next to Central Park and up the road from the Lincoln Center. Those are the only two I can recommend from personal experience. I guess you have to work out your budget and then decide whether you value comfort or location more! over 8 years ago

Where can I ride a tuktuk?

Anywhere in Bangkok, if that is where you are. In the city, they operate much the same as taxi's. Just wave one down and tell him your destination! over 8 years ago

Is it safe to two mature women to travel to Kuching and Batang?

Hello, I travelled to Kuching and throughout Malaysia with my mother and we had nothing but positive experiences. Generally we organised small group of personal tours and things, which was alright financially because of the exchange rate, but it made for a fantastic time. I think it depends a lot on what kind of travel you wanted to do, what you wanted to see. I know that we stayed in more upmarket places, but immersed ourselves in the culture during the day, and had a great experience. Some places to go to in Kuching: 1. A little indian cafe down the road from the Hilton hotel. They make the best roti EVER 2. Top Spot. A food-court style seafood restaurant. The most amazing seafood I have had and it is as cheap as chips. I hope that gives you a little insight. over 8 years ago

What are some good things to see in Inverness during the winter?

From my experience, Inverness isn't really that great. The surrounding regions, however, are packed with things. Loch Ness, of course. Invermoriston is beautiful - go for a walk around the river and down to the folly. At the other end of the Loch is Fort Augustus which is also beautiful. There are some lovely Glens and mountains in the region too which are stunning when snowcapped in the Winter, especially to the east and south. Ben Nevis has been mentioned, also Glen Coe. Cullodon is probably worth the trip just because of the intensity of the site. I guess it depends on what kind of things you are looking to do. over 8 years ago
