Any suggestions for good places to stay in or around Mandalay?
HI, It's been a few years since I was there, but there are a number of reasonably priced places. I don't have any personal recommendations but this one looks like it could be good: http://www.mandalayviewinn.com/ Small and friendly hotel with 12 rooms, nestled in a quiet and cozy corner of Mandalay's heart. almost 9 years ago

What are the best places to go in Bhutan for a slightly unique experience (read not usual tour places)?
Haa Vally is a little off the tourist route and pretty near Paro. Also Trashigang District on the other side of the country is seldom visited at all by tourists and it's right near a nature reserve famous for Black Neck Cranes. http://www.bhutanmajestictravel.com/bhutan-districts/trashiyangtse over 9 years ago

Not stayed there personally but I have stayed at the Crown which is ok and resonable value. I would recommend Hotel Maya [http://www.hotelmaya.com.my] Small but modern & well presented rooms. :D over 9 years ago
