Going to Turkey for 4-5 days in mid-April. How far away from Istanbul is it possible to go in that time?

I would stick to the sites and activities that are generally on the Western part of Turkey. On the bus, it can take up to a whole day to get to some places because of the mountainous terrain. For example, it's an all day bus ride from Istanbul to Pammukale (which is totally worth visiting). Visiting Ephesus or other towns in that general area is probably recommended, and you might also want to visit some places on the coast of the Black Sea. Otherwise you should fly to anything farther away, such as Cappadocia or the southern coast. over 8 years ago

What is the best way to get around Mongolia?

If you want to see anything off of the 2 main roads in the country, then you will need either your own vehicle or to take a tour in a vehicle. Many companies and hotels in UB offer jeep/van small group tours through the gobi, steppes, and other remote regions of the country. There are no roads in these areas, nor public transportation. over 8 years ago

Does anyone know the cheapest airline to use when flying from Bangkok to India, and from India to Nepal?

India has a bunch of newer and inexpensive airlines. Check out Kingfisher or Jet Airways. Air India is also pretty cheap. If you're flying to/from southeast asia, check out Air Asia (based in Kuala Lumpur). over 8 years ago

    what's it like in Africa?

Africa is extremely diverse. West Africa is colorful, yet generally poor. East Africa has countries known for their wildlife, Central Africa is like a jungle, and Southern Africa has amazing scenery and wildlife as well. North Africa is like the Middle East. Every country is different, but most are poor. If you visit, expect to see poverty. However, in my opinion, it's important that people see how the rest of the world lives. Transportation can be difficult or absent. Often traveling in Africa involves camping or staying in places that are very similar to camping. over 8 years ago
