I am heading to Portugal in April... Where are the best places to visit?...
If you can go to the northwest of the country as well, and visit Peneda-Gerês National Park, it's amazing! There are beautiful cities in that region... go to Guimarães (where the country was born in the 12th century!). The southwest coast (between Lisboa and Sagres) is one of my favourite parts too! It's a national park and you can find some really beautiful beaches (some more crowded and some desert ones) and really nice coastal towns with good seafood (Sines, Porto Côvo, Zambujeira do Mar, Aljezur...). There are a few summer festivals in that region, I recommend FMM in Sines (world music festival). Another beautiful place for you to go is a village called Óbidos, 2 hours driving from Lisboa. The village is surrounded by a castle and its walls and there are two nice festivals every year - The International Festival of Chocolate in March and the Medieval Fair in July. Anyway, try Ginginha, a liqueur made with local cherries served in a chocolate glass ;) Enjoy! almost 12 years ago
