Where is a nice place to stay in Nadi, Fiji for a one night layover? Suggestions on things to do for a day and nice dinner spot.

If you mean Nadi (Nandi), my advice is forget it, not a pretty town. You should have time to get a day boat tour out to Beachcomber, Castaway or Treasure Island. I think you have to get a cab to Lautoka and boat from there. Cabs are cheap, Indian drivers are very obliging and will wait all day for you to take you home. Beachcomber gives you that tropical island feel and lunch is usually included. Good value, good snorkelling, great bar on the beach. If you can't get to island then I would suggest visiting one of the nearby five star resorts and pass the time there. It is a few years since I have been to Nadi, but it doesn't have much going for it, crappy tourist shops. Even a tour out to some villages would be more interesting. Lovely people. over 8 years ago

What is the best way to see Killary Harbour in Ireland?

The business below is run by Michael Gibbons, a cousin of mine. He is a native of Connemara, Ireland, and a renowned Archeologist. Suggest you get in touch with them, there is nothing He doesn't know about the area. Might even be able to put you on to a local who could take you out on The Harbour by boat. Spectacular scenery over there. What are some cool boutique hotels in Sydney?

Definitely check out The Observatory Hotel, Kent Street (The Rocks End). Might need to check out specials to get under $300, but this Hotel is all Class, and one of the best bars in Sydney. Location also excellent. Service, as you imagine 5 star Hotel should be. www.observatoryhotel.com.au almost 10 years ago

best area to stay for 3 days?

I stayed at Arabian Courtyard Hotel, near Dubai Creek and right across the road from the Dubai museum. I found the Hotel great and good value for money, fantastic Indian Restaurant, and English Style Bar (bars are few and far between in Dubai). Ideal location for Silk Market (100 yards) and Gold and Spice Markets, a ferry boat ride across the Creek, all worth seeing. This part of Dubai is the most interesting in my opinion and Dubai Creek boat tour is worth doing. Desert BBQ and 4 wheel drive trip is also worth doing. This is not the best position if you want Beaches and Shopping Centres, but taxis are relatively cheap to take you to the major sights and Centres. Hop-on, Hop-off bus can be a pain especially on hot days, no air-con, takes you round the houses, better to pay a bit extra and go where you want by Taxi. 3 days is about right for Dubai, everyone I met was very friendly. about 10 years ago

Does anyone know of a good place to go for a winter get away with kids under 2 yrs. Was thinking Port Douglas. Any suggestions for accom?

Port Douglas is a fantastic getaway spot, with or without kids, heaps to do and it is just such a pleasant laid back town. I can highly recommend Mantra Portsea for accommodation. I stayed there last year and thought the accommodation was great, spacious and clean. Very pleasant pool and surroundings, ideal for kids. Bus outside door, or easy 15 min flat walk into Port Douglas. Magnificent Beach 2 mins outside back door. about 10 years ago

Where can we have a mini getaway for the weekend?

Hi Pamela, Consider coming up to Pittwater, buses from Wynyard and Manly. Not sure if camping is your go. But if so, bus to Palm Beach, Ferry to The Basin campsite across Pittwater, beautful spot, beach, water and bush. Or for cabin retreat try Pittwater YHA, bus to Church Point, ferry to the hostel, fantastic bush setting, kayaks etc available, idyllic spot. Plenty of cafes etc around Bayview area also. Totally hassle free weekend. Champagne weekend on a beer budget! (Also some B & B's in the area). over 10 years ago
