What are some good places to stay in or around Barcelona?

There are a lot of options for accommodation in Barcelona. Firstly go to an information booth in a train station or around the city to see what is available. We stayed in a camping ground 40 mins from the city but in a fantastic location on the beach. It was called Tres Estrellas. We also met another aussie guy who stayed in the university student apartments when he was there. I am not sure of the place but I think it was on wotif.com over 10 years ago

What are the safety concerns in Argentina? Is there a high occurrence of theft in Buenos Aires?

Buenos is a pretty safe place generally. I would recommend still using a money belt though. There are the regular scams, e.g. strip clubs where they just force you to give money over. If you are travelling alone then just stay in more friendly areas of the city like Palermo. Don't travel into the city centre at night unless you are with others. almost 10 years ago

What are the "must see" spots? Why did you select this spot?

For the south island check out my question: http://travellr.com/questions/new-zealand/184/what-are-the-highlights-in-the-south-island-of-new-zealand In the north island I would recommend checking out the Te Urewera National Park, it is a beautiful national park full of mountains that sit in the clouds and overlook the beautiful Lake Waikaremoana. If you want to relax probably a visit to Rotorua, to see the mud pools would be a good tip as well. When I was there, we were told that we should tour north of Auckland and go to the barrier islands but unfortunately we did not have time. over 10 years ago

    Calls between USA and Thailand.

Yeah like John said, if you bring a phone from the States the most important thing is that it is compatible with the type of mobile network in Thailand. http://www.chinavasion.com/gsm_explained.html#gsm-map The phone will also have to be "unlocked", which means that you can use it on other phone networks (more than just T-Mobile, AT&T etc) almost 9 years ago

How good is the public transport in Berlin?

It rocks my socks. S-Bahn (above ground metro), U-Bahn (underground) and buses are all fantastic. Not sure if they are 24-hr all year round but in the summer they are and they are all quite frequent. almost 9 years ago

What are some interesting places around Berlin which are accessible by public transport?

Frankfurt-an-der-Oder is a good one. Head 1hr East on a train and it is full of beautiful old buildings and nice riverside places. almost 9 years ago

Where is a good place to stay in Berlin?

As I answered in this question http://travellr.com/questions/germany/656/where-is-a-good-backpackers-to-stay --- The Schlaffmeile http://www.schlafmeile.de is one of the best hostels in Berlin. Another good one is the Sunflower hostel. Both of these are on http://www.hostelworld.com and it is a good website to use to book most places in Europe. over 9 years ago

Housing requirement for Italian student visa?

For non-EU citizens you will have a pretty short amount of time (maybe 5 working days, I do not remember exactly, and it might have changed since 2007) to organise accommodation before you are required to apply for your student visa at your local Carabinieri or whichever police division it is. Usually Universities are pretty willing to help you find private accommodation if you want it rather than a college. almost 9 years ago
