    driving in Central America

Wow that sounds like an awesome trip. I hope that I can do a road trip through the Americas one day. I agree the tourists should stop being stupid and bribing police. It happens everywhere in South America and it is only because the tourists take stupid risks that they wouldn't take if they were in their own country and then get caught... and try everything they can to get out of the possibly really bad situation Just a question though. What does DWI stand for? In Australia we call it drunk driving and I thought the acronym was DUI (Driving under the influence) over 10 years ago

need to get from venice to vienna without car. are there buses? trains take 7 hours...

Well I would recommend trains. Even though it is 7 hours, get a day train and you will not regret it. The lines are beautiful through the mountains. From Venice you can go out of Italy 2 ways: Through Udine or through Bolzano (via Verona). Both of these are fantastic scenery and well worth the train trip. To fly cheap you will have to go to Milan to flt with RyanAir, which is 2 hours by train away. So 2 hours to Milan 1 hour waiting for plane 1 hour on plane to "Vienna" (Bratislava) airport 40 minutes to get to Vienna city = about 5 hours in total Maybe there is more airlines that you can look at. My advice is definitely go the trains though. The fastest you will get there on a train will be 8 hours really, but they will be a lot less painful :) Cheers, Niko over 10 years ago

I have one week to stay in Melbourne. What should I do/visit?

Museums: Check out the National Gallery to see what is showing there. The Melbourne Museum has some interesting stuff as well. Go to the micro-breweries. - Little Creatures on Brunswick St. - James Squire in Docklands over 10 years ago

Is it easy enough to travel by hire car through Switzerland and Austria in June-July?

I would recommend going through Bozen-Bolzano in the North of Italy into Austria and then go West toward Switzerland (via Bodensee - Lake Constance). This way is pretty spectacular and you can stop off in a lot of locations on the way. over 10 years ago

What is the best way to get a work visa in Portugal?

Well I just got engaged to a Portuguese girl so that may help my situation. I sent an email to the consulate to ask what visa things I need to do before I go over to Lisboa to marry her. over 10 years ago

Hi all we are going to fly into Barcelona soon and we have approximately 2 weeks in Spain, any suggestions on what we should do?

Well there is plenty of good stuff to see in Barcelona. Weather doesn't look great at the moment, I hope it clears up for you so you can spend some time on the beaches. The north of Spain is beautiful (although a bit wet) this time of year. Bilbao is a really beautiful city and the coastline is magnificent, although not sunny sunbathing beaches like on the Mediterranean coastline. over 10 years ago

Are there any good camping sites around Kingdom Hut in the central plateau (Walls of Jerusalem)

They don't want to put a "hole in the ground toilet" at Dixons because that would encourage people to camp there and they probably are trying to do the opposite because of the wet terrain over 10 years ago

Things to do in the summer? is Croatia a good place to vist value wise and stuff to do like swimming?

Yeah Split is a very touristy town even in early June. Dubrovnik is not so noticeably touristy because you can disappear into side alleys and be away from all the busy streets. My advice would be to haggle with the rental people (you will see them waiting at the bus station or port and I imagine the airport too). You can find some nice houses to rent for a couple of days for relatively cheap prices. To swim and have a relaxing time, I recommend to stay in Šibenik, north of Split. Not so touristy and a great little town. You can go to travel agents in the town and they will find houses for you to rent there. I stayed in a flat rented out by the family who lived above. They gave us food and helped with transport and were really really nice. From Šibenik you can easily go inland to Krka national park! Absolutely beautiful place. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krka_National_Park You can catch buses from the bus station to the park and then a ferry to the waterfalls. over 10 years ago
