How does the metro, bus and tram system work in Lisbon?

I have been trying to understand the system here for the past month. From what I know they are trying to phase out the 7 Colinas cards and replace them with the green Viva Viagem cards. The Viva Viagem cards can be used for all modes of transport in the region (including trains) If you look on the back of the cards they have symbols for Bus, Boat, Train and Tram. I think you can recharge the cards in the metro stations. This is called Zapping. It reduces the amount of money used for each trip. over 10 years ago

What's the best way to explore Florence?

Florence is a beautiful city and is well worth just taking some time for yourself on the river front and just having a coffee. I was there in April and it was full of tourists so I can only imagine that June would be more packed. There are plenty of fake Davids around the city. The Ponte Vecchio is pretty cool and you don't have to line up. Piazzale Michelangelo and the Rose Garden have a nice view of the city. Some beautiful statues in the Boboli Gardens. Also some nice galleries in Pitti Palace below Boboli Gardens The problem is Firenze is pretty small and the good things to see have generally become touristy. So you will be amongst English speakers unless you find a hidden alley-way. Another thing you might want to do is actually get out of the town a bit. Try getting to the hills overlooking the city. Haven't done it myself but I would like to the next time I am there. over 10 years ago

What are the great things to see in Lisbon?

Personally I love Monsanto, it is known as the lungs of Lisbon it is the great big reservation area just behind the centre of the city. Barrio Alto is great too, although it is a bit touristy in summer and tends to be a big attraction for pick pockets. Graça is a great area to find fantastic lookouts behind the São Jorge Castle (which is also a great highlight) over 10 years ago

When traveling on a Australian Passport to the UK, would a Australian citizen require a entry visa into UK?

Australian Passport will mean you won't need a Visa for a lot of countries unless you want to stay for more than 3 months. However, be aware that the UK is pretty tough at the passport checking. Usually they are ok with Australians but I have heard some stories that if you have stamps from certain "dodgy" countries (e.g. Russia, Colombia, etc) they will ask you a lot of questions and expect you to have all the details about where you are staying and the details on your travel plans out of the UK. It is probably a good idea for any country you are visiting to take details on the place you are staying and the plans for leaving. These can be printouts of online bookings etc. Main thing is just to have SOMETHING to show them, if they ask, and you should be fine. over 9 years ago

Does anybody know how to dial from a vietnamese mobile to an Australian mobile?

http://www.countrycodes.com/ guides you through calling internationally from any country. +6104 09 000 000 would be 00614 09 000 000 Every country has a different international prefix to be able to ring OUT of the country. Vietnam uses "00". Most also allow the use of a "+" instead of their prefix but some might not. about 10 years ago

What is the cheapest way to travel from Porto to Lisbon?

The train is probably the cheapest way as the car trip will be petrol and then the 20€ toll (unless you take the long long way around to avoid the toll) There is always the option of finding cheap flights, although 20€ is as low as you are going to find. almost 10 years ago
