Where is the best place to surf in Sydney

Northern Beaches: Narrabeen, Little Narra, Dee Why Point & Curl Curl. Eastern Beaches: Maroubra, Tamarama when it's big & working. Southern Beaches: Cronulla Point, Voodoo. Respect the locals, particularly those areas with heavy local scene: Maroubra, Narrabeen etc. Just out of the city, visit Garie Beach in the National Park, seldom crowded, awesome scenery. Travellers can also stay at the YHA there: http://bit.ly/H4N49 over 9 years ago

When does the ski season start and finish? Do they have season passes at Gulmarg area : cost?

Mark, I was there in 05 for approx 5 weeks, and there was no season pass as such, you just bought a single ticket on the gondola base. At that time however the gondola didn't go all the way to the top, and half the time, the ticket sellers had no change or tickets (!). Last year however (2008), I was riding at Broken River NZ and one of the staff ski patrollers had worked there the previous year and told me that some days he did in excess of 10 runs per day. At the end of the day, it's Kashmir, so you can probably haggle a deal or something. I found it best to discard traditional "concepts" when I was staying there. The infrastructure is pretty loose. I'm sure it has changed a bit since my visit. It was the snowboarding experience of my life for sure. A lot of the time, we would bootpack/snowshoe hike all around the area if the gondola was closed. about 10 years ago

what is the best / cheapest way to get from sydney airport to the CBD? and rough prices for public transport tickets?

If you are travelling to Bondi Junction/eastern suburbs, you can get a 400 bus from both the international & domestic terminals. This is a normal bus i.e. normal every day prices rather than rip off airport prices. Type in "400" at http://www.131500.com.au/ about 10 years ago

Two weeks in Buenos Aires, what shall we do?

Visit the Cemetery at Ricoleta Go to the markets in San Telmo Take Tango Lessons Eat Empanadas Grab the Lonely Planet Guidebook for some more ideas. My stay in a hostel sorted a lot of these things out, either with guided tours or other travellers simply walking to the local sites & activities. about 10 years ago
