Driving in Cape Town : What if any preparations do I need to make for Driving a rental car in Cape Town area of SA ?

Firstly you would need to make sure you have an international driver’s license, this can be easily obtained in your home country. Depending on the duration of the rental a hefty deposit amount can be expected. This is then refunded upon the safe return of the vehicle (the refund can sometimes take up to 30 days.) A smart move would be to use your credit card rather than a debit card, credit cards have cheaper service fees and smaller deposit amounts. It also makes the refund run smoother. The rental stations at Cape Town airport is open 24/7, so finding a car after your landing shouldn’t be too hard. From personal experience I would recommend Europcar for top notch service and Budget Car hire for affordable prices (service not bad either), Avis tends to overcharge and leave you feeling ripped off. Lastly, check to see if there are any events on at the time. Finding a car in Cape Town can be as hard as it can be easy. Once something like to Cape Argus is on finding a car can become quite the headache. over 5 years ago
