Which towns & places are worth to go on the way from Melbourne to Bright?

The fastest way is up through Seymour and across but I suggest you go through Healesville to the east (the sanctuary is unique in the whole country) and/or through Kinglake National Park (some beautiful hills covered in new growth forest - the area was hit pretty badly in the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009 and is still recovering - they could use your support). Some of Australia's most famous painters are from the stretch from Diamond Creek to Kinglake; and looking at the scenery you will realize why. Hurstbridge, St Andrews and Kinglake are all cute old railway towns in the hills. Seymour is set by a lovely, deep, wandering river called the Goulburn (which waters most of Australia's pear farms) and there's a nice walk along the river's edge. Lake Eildon is pretty spectacular, too, on a clear day. about 4 years ago

Some things to see in Galveston Tx.

The birdwatching in Galveston is phenomenal. There are boardwalks all through the estuary at Galveston Island State Park. over 4 years ago

    San Francisco for a week

I stayed at a boutique hotel on my first trip here - the Mosser Hotel - shared bathrooms but it was nice enough and in a great location. As for sights to see, don't miss the seals at Pier 39 but don't bother with the tourist traps there. The Ferry Building at Embarcadero is great for foodies and people-watching (also has the best coffee in SF at Blue Bottle) The city's train system BART is clean and reliable but doesn't run very late at night and doesn't service SF's west at all. Local foods not to miss: sourdough bread and Ghirardelli chocolate.Napa is beautiful but yes, you'll need a car. Sonoma is slightly less pretty but the wine is still very good and it's much cheaper. Have a great trip! over 4 years ago

Are the Undara Lava Tubes worth a visit?

The tubes themselves are really cool but the best bit for me was the hiking. There are great trails snaking out from the visitors' centre that take you around swamps where dragonflies and wallabies abound; or up on piles of volcanic rocks to take in the view. I stayed in a yurt-type permanent tent and did the bat tour, which was amazing. almost 5 years ago

In Sydney for the New Year's Eve with my family... Which is best place for NYE dinner & watching fireworks with kids ?

Wherever you choose, get there early! I liked the view from the Rocks because you can see the bridge fireworks from an angle but it's hard to get out with the hoards of people after the fireworks end. Circular Quay has some nice grassed areas where the kids can play while you wait, if you want to have a picnic dinner right there. almost 5 years ago

Cool but cheap hostel to stay in Hong Kong??

I don't know about cool but cheap I can do: I stayed at a place called Lee Garden Guest House. It was quiet, air-conditioned, safe and located in downtown Kowloon near a tonne of great eating places. I was there in mid-2012 and it cost me about US$55 a night for a single room. It will surely be more around New Year though. P.S. Take a ferry to Macau if you want to get away from it all. There are buses from the ferry terminal that will take you all around the island. almost 5 years ago
