Hi I'm looking to hire a campervan in Brazil during 2014 soccer world cup, cant seem to get companies that do these rentals can you help??
If anyone wants to buy a small motorhome/campervan to use during the World Cup, we are now in Brazil and looking to sell ours. Details are on the web page http://nomadness.benlo.com/SA/RoadTrek.html in case anyone is interested. Peter about 6 years ago
Most fancy restaurants will take credit cards, but you should always be prepared for the terminal to not be working. Smaller cafes probably won't take cards. Which is the best rate depends on your banks. Last week it was 0.5% better for me to pay by credit card vs getting cash from an ATM. Most taxis won't take cards. YMMV. about 4 years ago
In the past few months the modern road to Sapa (as far as Lao Cai, anyway) has opened and now there are buses as an option, including buses directly from Sapa to Halong Bay. There were several agencies in Sapa offering direct bus trips when I was there a month ago. Here is an example bus for $28, but google for more: http://www.sapapanoramahotel.com/service/detail/High_Quality_Bus_to_Ha_Long_Bay_128.html Many buses are equipped with sleeper seats, so you are in a reclining position. That is for the overnight bus, but the day bus is the same bus. I do not recommend this for tall people, as these buses were designed for shorter bodies. That said, I found it a great way to travel during the day time and see the countryside instead of taking the overnight train. I get the impression that the train offers a higher commission to the agents, because it seemed many "had not heard of these direct buses" and wanted to sell me a train ticket. over 5 years ago
