Advice on Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC ?

It depends. There is such a variety to what makes Asheville unique - many different sides of the city. If you're looking to get pampered and you don't have to worry about money, GPI is a lovely option. I personally would choose to rent something downtown where all the food and great beer are. Some of my favorites are Curate, Jack of the Wood, Bouchon or Wasabi. There's even better food in West Asheville, but your only sleeping option is a hostel. If you have the money, don't miss eating at the Admiral, but reserve a spot 2 weeks in advance if you're going on a weekend, 1 week otherwise. If you don't have the money, eat at Bandidos. And, of course, Sunny Point for breakfast if you don't mind waiting for a table. over 8 years ago

How do most Frenchmen treat American tourists?

In my own experience, I was treated amazingly well while in France. They were kind, helpful, courteous... They appreciate respect, of course, as everyone does. They also appreciate that you try to great them in French, even if it's to say "Parlez vous anglais" - and most people do, though they don't seem to go there without a few smiles and a genuine gratitude. I did not see one ounce of the old, horrible stereotype in my two weeks traveling throughout the country. over 8 years ago
