What are some highlights of Puglia?

Alberobello is amazing, and unlike anything you will see anywhere else. If you haven't organised accommodation yet, you might like to stay in one of the trulli for a unique experience. Ostuni is also something different, a white-washed village near alberobello. Lecce is also a very interesting city full of interesting churches and monuments. Enjoy your stay in Puglia! about 7 years ago

Does anyone know how I would get to the seaside resort of castilione Della pescaia in Tuscany from Siena?

Hi, The best way I could think of would be to go from Siena to Grosseto by train, and catch a bus to Castiglione della Pescaia. On the Trenitalia site the fare from Siena to Grosseto is about 8.20 Euro. There are buses from Grosseto to Castiglione della Pescaia. about 7 years ago

    Tuscany with a little boy

Tuscany is a great region for kids. The Boboli gardens in Florence is great for kids. If your child is interested in Pinocchio then try these gardens and parks... http://www.pinocchio.it/eng/ It also depends when you go...if you go around the time of Carnevale, then your child would definitely love the Viareggio carnival. about 7 years ago

Coastal town in Calabria with direct train to Napoli?

many of the coastal towns in Calabria are very busy, as not only tourists, but Italians travel to Calabria during the warmer months. Amantea has a nice beach and is serviced by a direct train from naples a couple of times per day. over 7 years ago

1st time in Italy! travelling with my 15 years old daughter, staying 5 nights in Florence and 1 night in Venice, which hotel do you suggest

Florence is easily accessible and you can walk from monument to monument in little time, so no matter where you stay you will never be far from the sights. If you are arriving by train, there are many hotels near the station, or a popular area is the Santa Croce district. In Venice the Hotel Belle Epoque is nice and reasonably priced. It is really close to the train station, and right next to the water bus services. http://www.belleepoquehotelvenice.com/ over 7 years ago

Whats the best place to buy train tickets for travelling around Italy?

In your bigger train stations there are plenty of self service machines that are easy to use and it'll save you heaps of time. In main stations (like roma termini, firenze santa maria novella etc.) there are 2 types of self service machines, inter-regional and regional. if you are going short distances, like from florence to pisa, then use the regional machines. For tickets going further distances like rome-naples use the touchscreen inter-regional machines. At the moment trenitalia have a special going on which can save you up to 60% on the train fare as long as you buy the tickets at least 24 hours ahead of time...its called "mini" and you can get tickets for Venezia - Firenze from 17 euro.
