How long does train trip take from Sydney to Melbourne?

Hi Fred I think you will find this link helpful http://www.nswtrainlink.info Use the regional search box on the left to get times and prices for Sydney to Melbourne train. The trip takes about 10 hours on the XPT and I think they have some overnight services from memory. Having said that, train travel is surprising slow and expensive in Australia, so people usually fly between Sydney and Melbourne (or drive for the fun of a road trip). almost 5 years ago

Where is the best place to buy lightweight travel and outdoor gear in Hong Kong?

Thanks. We went to the RC outfitters store in Mong Kok as well as a few others including Racing The Planet, The Overlander, and The Outdoor Store. For others who are. also looking for outdoor gear, we found that RC outfitters. had the biggest range. Mirabell also had a good range of Merrell shoes. almost 5 years ago

In Sydney for the New Year's Eve with my family... Which is best place for NYE dinner & watching fireworks with kids ?

I also find that Darling Harbour tends to be more tame and family friendly than circular quay. almost 5 years ago

How can I get to Mount Kosciuszko from Sydney? I read that Greyhound Australia does not offer service to Thredbo.

It may be best to hire a car. It is a truly beautiful drive at all times of the year. almost 5 years ago

How do you deal with Australian summer heat?

For a nice refreshing spot of cool green, one of my favourite places in Sydney is the Chinese friendship garden in Darling Harbour. http://www.darlingharbour.com/things-to-do/chinese-garden-of-friendship.aspx It's also best to enjoy the beach in the morning or late afternoon. The sun really is very strong at that time of year between 11am and 3pm. Even with loads of sunscreen you will still be toast within about half an hour if you are on the beach in the middle of the day. The other big recommendation I have for you, to get a taste of local Sydney life, is to get up early on a Sat or Sun to have breakfast and coffee at one of the many cute little cafes dotted throughout the inner west. Pick the busy and quirky looking ones and you will be in for a treat, especially if you love clean healthy food. made with love! Don't worry too much about drop bears, you'll really only encounter them if you do some serious bush walking where there are tall trees. almost 5 years ago

Any one advise on cheap accomodation and the bext way to get around Hiroshima?

In terms of the best way to get around, we often used the tourist bus route or the trains. The tourist bus has a special stop at Hiroshima station and the hostel we stayed at gave us lots of information about it. There are two routes (green and orange) for this bus and it stops at all the main sites in Hiroshima city. If you decide to go to Miyajima Island, which we highly recommend, you will need to catch the train, and then a ferry. There are also some JR trains, so if you have a JR pass you may want to use those. almost 5 years ago
