Suggestions for Luang Prabang, Laos elephant experiences that treat the elephants well?

We went here http://www.mahoutlodge.com It's a beautiful place and it's a rehabilitation centre for old working elephants :) I felt the Mahouts really loved their elephants and interacted beautifully :) I had Pancake the elephant and my god she had personality! All of them did :) The bungalows you stay in are soooo nice, surrounded by lush tropical jungle, natural wood ( we even had a tree trunk coming through the middle of our room :) modern decor, great food. It was all around well worth the money. We kayaked back to Luang Prabang was really fun, and don't forget to pick up your Mahout Certificate :) funny souvenir :) almost 6 years ago

How controversial is it to visit Halong Bay? I've heard that the area is being compromised environmentally.

It's a beautiful place! 360 views of huge amazing lime stone cliffs! It's truly a gorgeous place but I imagine the tourism is not helping preserve this heritage. We witnessed so many workers throwing garbage off our boat into the water.... Sad but true this was couple years ago now so I can imagine the struggle to keep up on it and keep it a world heritage place..... :( I'd still love to wake up there lol almost 6 years ago

Recommendation for affordable accommodation in El Nido, Palawan. Which island hopping tour is highly recommended in El Nido?

I would suggest coron coron just 3 minute ride to el Nido best sunsets and beach is less polluted with boats and people... Few places to choose from... We loved it :) also we had a local arrange tours for us and it was $30 for the day private boat and lunch included! Amazing! almost 6 years ago

Good budget for a 6 month trip around SE Asia?

Depends on what countries and where you will be located...also time of season...( high or low) Also how much luxury your looking for lol I would say $50 a day is decent :) but you can roughly/adventurously survive on $10-25 with little to no amenities and just local cuisine :) almost 6 years ago

Do I need malaria tablets travelling in Laos and Vietnam?

If you plan to sleep outside and are in extremely rural areas. Most traveled areas are safe and I chose not to take them, because the side effects seemed extremely harsh for such a low risk for the traveling I had planned :) It's an amazing county enjoy!!!! almost 6 years ago
