Is it safe to travel to Japan now?

Hokkaido is absolutely fine. Has been since the day of the wobbling. If we didn't have any News or Internet we'd be none the wiser. Hokkaido is hundreds of miles from Fukushima. It's like a different country. It is big and beautiful and there is hardly anyone here! Come and enjoy it! I would say the same for Shikoku, Kyushu, and anywhere West or South of Tokyo, too. My girlfriend's actually from Fukushima, and she's going home next week (having been living in Hokkaido for the winter) it seems like life for her family is pretty much back to normal. Which doesn't mean that a risk doesn't exist, but a lot of fearmongering has been going on outside Japan. over 8 years ago
