What are things we must do when visiting the texas hill country, San Antonio and Austin?

Austin is HOT in the summer. Plan for a brunch or early morning run around the lake the duck indoors for museum midday then wandering SoCo with dinner at Guerro's taco bar or many South Congress places. The gem of the city is the Barton Springs pool with Zilker park connecting to a 10 mile trail around Lady Bird Lake through the center of town. Austin City Limits has tickets for tapings, Stubbs has a great Gospel brunch on Sundays. Bob Bullock museum frequently has local artists featured for free concerts. University of Texas is fun to wander. Ransom center has Gutenberg bible. LBJ library just renovated and has great views. or Right now the bats night flight from the congress Ave bridge is something amazing with millions of tiny black butterfly looking bats pouring out across the sky at dusk. In spring there is a loop near Fredericksburg with wonderful wild flowers. Tons of B&Bs in hill country. 2days in San Antonio concentrating on river walk, downtown and Mercado areas. A day in hill country driving Fredericksburg for Rather's pies or Kerrville area and quite good wine country tours and 2 days at least in Austin if you can stay. Trip advisor has lots more ideas. Can be as fancy or as cheap as you want. Tons to do for free climate is great winter spring fall and mornings and evenings in summer. about 6 years ago

Is it fun to clam dig.

Absolutely but it is cold in Alaska with wet hands. Bring towels or a change of shirts and longjohns. Clams dig away fast. You are going to get wet. Bake/steam them on the beach in a seaweed mat. Yum. Alaska is almost another country from the passage to glaciers to wild of Denali. Summer in Alaska is the best, the bays and bay tours amazing and locals friendly. Limited nightlife great people. about 6 years ago
