Upcountry (kula) has a great zip line on the side of Haleakala. West Maui has some hidden gems as well. Check out skyline adventure tours. They have much to offer from atv tours to water slides into a reservoir. over 6 years ago
My wife and I are going to Maui in Oct for our 10 year wedding anniversary. What are some of the not-so-touristy restaurants & experiences?
Mamas fish house in Paia is amazing food and fine dining experience Maui style. Haleakala for sunset is a great spot for a date, as well as driving to Hana for a night in a B&B over 6 years ago
If you around for daylight go to iao valley and hike the short trail, best in morning hours, you won't be disappointed. The airport doesn't offer much in walking distance. over 6 years ago
I want to do the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu in April. Can I book in Cusco or should I book ahead? Any trekking company recommendations?
This depends on what time you travel. I went in high season and centered my trip around the trek, but many people who were staying had scheduling issues trying to squeeze them in. That being said there were also people who it worked out well for so it's relative. My advice, do at least some research and if you know the exact dates you will be there it may be best to try and schedule ahead of time. over 6 years ago
I used SAS Travel, had a guide named Aldo. Amazing food, all guides are native to Peru, and camps and lunch spots are arranged in better manner than other, so you don't see AS many people. Had a great time with good people and plenty of laughs. Guides extremely knowledgeable of local fauna and culture. over 6 years ago
