Mexico city restaurants- good places that are local, both budget and higher end.

Def Polanco on Avenida Masaryk. Just a great steak dinner in Rincon Argentina. Not cheap though. The Hotel Habita has a great bar and well prepared menu. The tuna carpaccio was superb! In Condesa, is lovely Cafe Toscana on Ave Mexico, right on the corner with Michoacan overlooking the park. Lovely. Lupitas in Coyoacan looks lovely, and lots of restos and cafes on Plaza Hidalgo in Coyoacan. about 9 years ago

For a 2-day stay in New Orleans, what are the "must-try" restaurants and "must-do" activities?

Not sure when you are going so hopefully these tips are still relevant. I always check out foodandwine.com to get a view of the latest places to check out and the New York Times has a series of "36 hours in..." I am sure they have done one for New Orleans. The third I do is check out the reservation listings for a given city on Opentable.com. They organize some restaurants by most popular and that also can be a proxy for what is hot and 'don;t moss". Enjoy! over 9 years ago

Going to Bangkok for a vacation. Which tourist spots should I not miss visiting?

Take a public commuter boat up the Chao Praya; great views of the city from the iver. Hop off anywhere and walk around. You must explore the palace, floating market and Chinatown. Lumpini Park is nice too. over 9 years ago

    Roadtrip in California

The entire coast or between SF & LA? Assuming the latter, definitely check out Pescadero off if HIghway 1 past Half Moon Bay. Check out Aptos, though of course don't miss Santa Cruz. Seacliff in Aptos has an understated resort on the bluff, but the beach below is gorgeous and empty! The farmers market in Santa Cruz is fab. Further south, there's Salinas, Steinbeck country, and historic agriculture town. Pacific Grove is also lovely. If you can be more specific about your route, I can share more spots in the northern end of Caliornia. almost 9 years ago

    Best bars on weekend?

Hey there! I know you'll be back, so here's my list aside from the wonderful Jupiter: Triple Rock Brewery in downtown Berkeley The Albatross on San Pablo at University (15 min walk from Bart) Lanesplitters-great pizza and outdoor back area. San Pablo @ University eVe on University & Milvia (near Bart). Bit more loungey style in the outdoor deck in the back The Pub on Solano Avenue-North Berkeley. outdoor deck in front to see passers by on Solano. Not near Bart. Good beers and tobacco selection Raleigh's on Telegraph The Missouri Lounge-San Pablo @ Parker. Down home not fancy locals place starting to get trendy with hipsters. Huge outdoor area Downtown Oakland also has a slew of places...but you didn't ask about those! ;) over 9 years ago

what is the best way to get to france from england?

Depends the start and end points and how fast you want to get there. Plenty of low cost carriers (easyjet, ryan) between various airports in both countries. If in London, I've always liked Eurorail. Maybe "old" school, but the rain to Dover to then catch a ferry to Boulogne or Calais are fun, and you see a bit of te country side too. almost 8 years ago
