Are there any countries in Central America that might not be a safe destination for a lady in her sixties to travel alone to? Thanks, Judi.

I would read up on safety for the entire area as well as by country. Lots of sources, but start with safety.worldnomads.com. I San Salvador and Managua can be dodgy for any traveler, let alone solo female, so avoid them if you can, or at least, connect with the hotel staff of where you are staying before you arrive to get a read on taxis or if they can collect yo from the bus staion etc. always get pricing before you get in the cab pretty anywhere in central America. Lots of scams with cab drivers so try o ask your hotel or retaurant to call you one over just lagging on in the street. Apart from bigger hectic cities, I find a lot of the area safe and the people warm and welcoming, with the usual precautions of being a foreigner and a female. if you go to Granada in Nicaragua, consider staying at the casa Silas. Rob is fabulously warm, and as en expat Canadian, he knows A LOT about moving into the area and what is entailed. about 7 years ago

I like to travel from Valencia to lisboa or OportWhat will be the verybest ? With autobus, tren o airplane?

Fastest way is by train from Valencia to Madrid, then get a train from Madrid to Lisbon. There's also a train from Madrid to Oporto, but if you have the time, you can go from Madrid to Salamanca then take a bus from there to Oporto. Or go to Lisbon first, then up to Oporto. Have fun! about 7 years ago

Road travel Kosovo and Bosnia Herzegovina - how safe?

I went by motorbike from Croatia over to Bosnia and down to Montenegro before heading back into Dubrovnik in 2009. While not the same routing at all, I can say that road travel was very safe and we had no issues at all going through remote roads, areas, or towns. We had a kawasaki (in case that matters), and we stayed off the roads at night. Sounds very exciting! about 7 years ago
